Steering tie rod ends

Postby clee » Fri Mar 25, 2011 1:35 pm

As discussed in this thread .
http://www.renaultalpineownersclub.com/ ... php?t=5000
I can supply new adjustable bushes so that you can fit std Renault rod ends instead of the hard to find and feckin crazy priced GTA/Spder ones .
The Spider ones will be ready next week .
Prices quoted are based on one off production costs. If I can get 20 firm orders then the price will come down quite a bit .

Lee,
I'll take a pair provided they aren't a crazy (Renault) price- what will they be if you make 20?
Cheers

Put me down for one set Lee please. If you struggle to get enough 'punters' then I'll happily take two sets (one for the 610 if I ever get it back on the road!).

70 for a pair of rod ends sounds like a bargain....(by Renault standards)

I think so ,even to just put by for when they fail ...which they will .I've had two fail MOT on these recently and fitting secondhand ones just isn't an option .
Thanks for the support :) Do need a few more to make this happen though

Not had track rods go yet so these will be going in the store box for WHEN they do- as you say they are a consumables, have got through many on other cars.

Come on everyone......there must be a few more who will need them soon.

Have you asked Stephen if he'll take a few as 'Club' stock - he's often the first port of call for critical parts?

I'll join in as well,

though I agree,

that this is exactly what club funds should be used for.... buying parts stock for club member's use.

I've not asked about the club buying some .Would make sense .
I'm developing a few bits that are either hard to find or a stupid price .I have to do them for my own purposes on JIL but all one offs so the price is always a lot more .
I do it though because I need them for the track abuse ,can't be shelling out hundreds of quid on balljoints every few months .
The gear shift balls for instance needed a little jig making to drill them accurately etc so the costs are not always evident ........
I've still got 20 balls sitting around ,I can't afford to get stuff specially made only to sit on the shelves .
Rollcage is another but I always knew that would be for me alone .But it's done ,it does actually exist not just a pic on a website

Anyway I make that 5 sets so a quarter of the way .If the club would take 10 sets I will get them underway .Will not take long as the programing is all done ,I just need to get them to tweak the taper slightly as it's not sitting exactly right .
They need to go off for hardening after that and I will also ask about getting them zinc plated .

I will need payment up front though guys please .

Payment - no problem, agree.
Put F50 down for a set of balls, LTH payment. What's the cost on those, so I can tell 'em?

Start a list then....

the spider version will be done as a rosejoint conversion kit as the above solution won't work for all 6 of the culprits on the spider only 4 of them .....

the german dick turpin of Alpine has some of the originals at 120 euros each or thereabouts delivered.... prety much even more than the renault price.....

we've contacted the manufacturer and they won't supply because of contractual agreements with Renault..... the parts were made specially for Renault for the GTA and then used on Spider and A610.... so to sum up we're in the Sh1t.... so solution is now on the way for all 3 cars as i for one won't pay Zee germans those prices for balljoints!

watch this space RATS update very soon :D
