Service Light and Fuel Readout

Hi All

A couple of quick questions

1. How do I turn out the service light?

2. The fuel computer readout is very hard to read in my GTA especially in bright sunlight. Is there any way to brighten it up

3. The fuel computer readout was flashing last time I used the car. Is there any reason for that?

That's an easy one. Just move somewhere the sun don't shine (wales, derby or manchester come to mind)!

Seems like anywhere in the northern hemisphere !

Try a fuel reset, desconnect the batterie and re connect and then hold down the trip button for about ten seconds. Then it should be fine.

Yes the sun is shining bright down here, its been a long hot summer and its still going. I hope that makes you all feel better.

1 Check Fuel low, doors, bonnet, windscreen wash fluid,handbrake bulbs may be gone in main display
2 A new unit was better but still hard to read in NZ sunlight
3 Your Link cpu may not be giving flow data to the fuel computer

By the 'Service' light, you mean the big yellow one in the middle of the dashboard. The more detailed lights on the right hand side of the dash will tell you where to look.

I'd agree with Murray's suggestions and there should be a light on the right for each of these.

The other one I had once was the electronic incident which looks like a box with a zig-zag line it in. This would flicker on in particular when starting the car and then never re-light. As time went on, though, the car became difficult to start and after changing the plugs, leads, cap, etc, etc. was still being naughty. When plugged into the XR-25, it seemed the cold-start sensor wasn't working properly. Changed this, the electronic incident light never came on again and most importantly, the car started properly.

I also wanted to get the screen wash low indicator working (this lights the Service light) and cleaned all that out. I must have been a bit over enthusiastic, as now the screenwash light acts like a lateral G-meter and flashes on in sharp cornering!

You may have solved the mystery. The washer level light is on so I will try filling the bottle tonight and see if this turns the service light out.

Murray you are probably right about the Link ECU but that doesnt really worry me, I just need to see how much fuel is in the tank. I know the readout is accurate, when I refueled the other day it was showing 31 litres and I put 30 litres in the tank and it showed 61 litres, so thats all good but its just so hard to read. I guess I will just have to get stronger glasses.
