To set the record straight...

POLYCARB

There are two companies that have (one allegedly) made them:

(i) Mr Plastic Paul as above, who says he has made one from the pattern glass I originally sent to Mr Evans... but despite dozens of calls / messages / emails has yet to put the promised sample in the post. Says he can do the lines too.

(ii) Mr Ellerton who has had the original club moulds for years but at £80 each no one wanted to buy them. In 3mm or 5mm. Also available with integral indicator but more expensive.

Option (i) available sometime! (ii) available any time.

GLASS

(i) Mr Evans sent the pattern to various glass companies (including one in china) and no one could do them or no one was interested.

(ii) Renault £250 each

Option (i) available no time soon (ii) available anytime and the club have stock

They have been advertised in the lighting section on the main site since day one

The only person to actually buy a set was Mr Gentlemen and those may well be the ones JIL is wearing now.

Truth is in general no one with a GTA seems to want to spend any money on them (or has no money to spend on them) and even if someone has already developed or sourced a replacement part they will just go and do it all again to try and save 10p.

By comparison the Clio V6 owners have bought 96 yes NINETY SIX alloy wheels in the last two months and as a result funded the transport for all the GTA / A610 parts.

If you need parts more often than not they are there if you ask. Unfortunately they are not free but they are cheap compared to Renault. Rant over!

Stephen, I had asked you about purchasing the polly glass not that long back, but then disappointingly there was no positive indication or likelyhood of stock. I then lost interest, and had been keen at the time. Now my GTA ownership has taken different direction, and in the category of rationalisation.. but yes I agree, most owmers invest very little in the GTA in terms of improving the breed, consequently development in what ever aspect of the vehicle is either slow or virtually nill. I have personally invested a huge amount in terms of making the PRV V6 a more competent and rounded package, but have long started to think why....
... A diamond is only a piece of coal that did well under pressure... PRV afflicted, may be I need to squeeze harder!!!!

A shame really as for most other marques a proven tuning package for £1500 would sell. Problem is at the moment that's 50% of the value of the average car and could prove to be a hard sell.

Must have been in relation to the new 'improved' version which yes has been frustrating. Old version is still readily available though.

Yes White Ellerton, hence Mr Ellerton, I have them on my own car in 3mm (wrap around).

You need 5mm if you want the traditional size + rebate.

They kept a pattern glass there to do the rebate.

One is now at Plastic Paul and the other was destroyed by the vac forming man.

I'll hassle Paul again this week to see if his are any better and more impotantly cheaper.

New shop coming soon...
