RTOC events for 2011

Postby clee » Thu Jan 13, 2011 11:30 am

RTOC have once again got some exclusive hire events this year .
It would be great to get some other clubs there .No charge for Club stands ,designated areas etc even traders are welcome and I can sort out some discounts for the track and strip action for any non members as long as they turn up in a Renault .

First event is Mallory Park on Sat 4 June .Exclusive hire ,open pitlane .Camping on site .FCS is the following day and about an hour away so a good weekend
Second is Santa Pod , Friday 1st July .Same deal ,no waiting in line, run as many times as you can and Retro Show is on the Sunday so another top weekend to be had .

Please shout up any interest and I'll let you know pricing when I know but as usual it will be a bargain .

What about a club stand then Mr Dell ?
Mallory ,middle of the country on a Saturday in June .
It won't cost a bean and you can have a nice relaxed day as some other fecker is organising it all .All Renaults welcome and track time is even better this year as we are using Charlies , Stapletons and Edwinas most likely .

I am interested in both, but it depends what sprint events they may clash with. They are pencilled into my diary.

lol  oh do keep up Mr Faulks the steam issues long been resolved by a new 3 core rad I had built with metal endcaps. However oil spraying on the 3 branch manifolds produced the smoke we all, myself included thought appeared to be steam. A slight adjustment to the spring rate on the dip stick solved the popping out/windage issue  along with a larger diameter breather hose !

That aside the car drove rather well performing better than I expected and certainly not showing itself up against ...eh herm higher spec machinery in Wales

Unfortunately smoke may have been seen coming from the rear of the vehicle on the way home but this was clutch material ...yep it looks like the clutch has gone  I have certainly lost pedal as well so it maybe a combination of things.

Rumours are afoot that I might actually be looking into getting these problems fixed in the not too distant future; so I might actually do a little sprinting this year.

WRONG  gaskets already replaced, 3 core rad built on existing metal end caps on the rad!

Dip stick blowing out by blow by  tut tut Mr Faulks the engine is running as clean as a whistle and no oil burning under full load as confirmed by the most reliable witness a man can have Mr Jonc

The clutch .....well the engine has never been taken out so I can't advise to it's condition  apart from slippage, but I want to investigate the hydraulics first see whats going on there may be the master, I have had a little trouble before but it cleared once bled. I have some cheap .5 in there but Mr Dell has recommended some Castrol stuff that is of race quality but is rated .4, apparently it does not match .5 specs only because it has a dye in it.

Trust me Mr Faulks The car has come a long way ...TBH a fecking long way since I picked it up from Clee as a non runner about three years ago and its amazing what has had to be replaced. I found buying 2nd hand parts in this instance was neither economical with time or money as a lot of jobs such as starter and alternator were carried out a couple of times each ...it now has both brand new

I am sure I can get the car running reliably this year althouh I have an advance issue that needs to be checked out with some pinking. The timing has been checked witha strobe, but there may be a little play in the dizzy so may need to back it off slightly or find a third dizzy

Mr Faulks ....O YE Of little faith

Are you at Surrey Quays tonight :?: If so see you later

Lol - pitty can't make it tonight, tax return... finding all the junk, but carrying on this conversation over a drink will definitely prove more interesting!

ah, so you have a localised reduction in gravity, or your dipstick just dislikes your oil that much? Oh I know, you have a localised vibration resonance, and out it pops... But then if you've backed your timing off that much it, all that nice oil will still be burning in your exhaust init - joke...

pinking, you sure that's not oil past your rings as well, did you bed them in nice and hard or take easy?

Winding you up mate, so it's just the dizzy to sort and you're good to go? Have you got those extractor headers on the car yet?

Well that and the clutch, I am now hoping to drop the whole rear subframe out and tidy the subframe etc all in one hit.

The car was running really well giving it plenty of beans up the pass of the Stwan Dam......Smoking

The headers have made quite a difference as did the carb which was chucking the fuel in so a saving on fuel and a big gain in performance  not that it was slow to start with

Finger crossed that I will get my first real season sprinting/hill climbing in this year. It wont be full on yet but reasonably regular events is what I am aiming for this year.

Clee whats the approximate cost of an RTOC track day?

I've just got in from stripping old Atmo shi.....pre-used classic car parts ......
Membership is £25 for the first year then £10 to renew but..................you must have been a member for a set amount of time to qualify for the discounted tracktime price which will be around £60 .

What's the time Mr Wolf ...how long a time frame we talking ear ?

Would be worth joing just for the cheap track time the following years anyway!

That said I got to joind a few clubs this year so that I can do the events I may wish to do so could cost a small fortune I owe the bank manager at the moment ...I'll play it by ear ...still £5.00 cheaper to join the club even at £25.00 for the first year.

Atmo shi t I could not agree more LOL    Dont have to preach to me    I'm already converted
