Looks like fun. Shame I don't have the dough (or space!) for it!

How come a rusty old renault 5 is worth so much more than a far rarer (they made thousands of 5T2's) GTA in similar nick?

I owned a r5 t2 reg number A315 FRC ,and can tell you they are as mad as a bucket of frogs [no pun on the french intended],the handling is on the edge at full tilt , sound crazy, look great and rare ,this is what makes them as pricey as they are .Trust me ,if you ever get the chance to own one ,even if its only for a week ,DO IT ,you will never regret it FUN FUN FUN .

ABOUT THE ABOVE CAR THAT I USED TO OWN.
my ex from about 13 years ago trully hated that car ,but i loved the car more than her .
she gave me an ultimatum ,
we were going through a bad patch ,and told me one day to get rid otf the T2 or she goes ,so i told her to pack and go .
I got in from work the next day and a removal van was out side and her mum and dad were loading all our furniture into it .
I kept the T2 for another 9 months ,talk about dedication to your loved one [the car that is ].
hello all.

So what if you had feeling for a car. She should have been really proud that you were able to express your feelings, most women complain that men dont. And it is only a car, not as thought it was another woman.... probably her loss, although she and her parants had all the furniture. I'm sure that was an interesting parting converstaion you all had.

Made the mistake of mentioning it (in passing) to my wife.....
Not a good idea.
Its one of her most hated cars!!!! Said she'll leave me if I ever buy one.

Something to bear in mind for the future I guess 8)

If I had the money I'd buy it....always been a fave of mine. Lets face it, all done up they are fetching £12k+. Pay £5k, do it up for another 5....drive it round for 6months and then sell it for a profit! What could be better than that :D

In my experience it never turns out that way ! Always extra stuff to do that ends up costing you more money, and if you think GTA's are fragile there built like an Audi compared to a T2! The bespoke parts for the T2's are often exorbatantly priced or impossible to get, they rot badly the electrics are poor, the brakes are rubbish. I love the cars but don't under-estimate whats involved in turning a poor one into a good one. I spent best part of 2K restoring a 'dini Turbo - badly, for a track car project. A decent paint job is going to be £1500 before you even start.
