Excellent GTA For Sale

Postby rbulkley » Fri Sep 24, 2010 8:26 am

All,
Having bought what I believe is one of the best GTAs in the country (D999 RGD) 3 months ago I'm now interested in selling it again. I have worked hard over this period to bring the car back to truly concours condition - replacing all broken or marked plastics and replacing missing items (e.g. the jack!).

The principle reason for selling this again is that I have another classic car which is an automatic and I have an old knee injury so I prefer driving this.

I've posted an advert on Pistonheads but would love this car to go to a club member. Paul Sage recently looked this car over and now know it well but I believe it to be as good as you will ever find. It was restored over a 5-year period by a previous clib member and the invoices total £13,500 in the last 3,000 miles!

Please call on 0781 853 0789 if you are interested.

Best Regards, Richard

Nice car that one....

I was actually offered £8000 cash for mine today. What with our family move to Atlanta next yr i am seriously considering it. The prospective buyer has been looking for a decent GTA for yrs and has fallen in love with mine. Just dont know if i can let go of it yet, i enjoy driving it so much !.

Dunno, need to think about it. It is kinda around the figure i was thinking off. Allthough my figure was slightly higher.
I did get it silly cheap in the first place. I then invested a fair amount of money and time in the early part of the year to bring it up to scratch as you all know. Now shes mint and absolutely everything works. Even the fuel gauge which even appears to be somewhat accurate.
It was up on a ramp at the time having its MOT (which was a perfect pass), and thats when the guy spotted it. Under the car is damn perfect, it practically looks new. She has certainly been well cared for in the past.
I have also enquired with the Georgia State vehicle licensing department to check about importing. "IF" i am alowed to bring the GTA over to the US then i will probably take it with me.

Value

Postby rbulkley » Sat Sep 25, 2010 6:49 am

Hi All,
Interesting comments on the value of these GTAs. I'm not looking to make a profit on mine. I paid £8,000 for it and spend £1,500 on it so I'd like to just cover my costs.

When I was looking to buy a GTA average turbo's seem to be going for around £6,000+ so I thought that a car thats had a £13,500 restoration (excluding the labour costs of 5-years work) was a bargain! I doubt you could restore a GTA to this condition again as the person that restored it stockpiled hard to find parts 10 years ago (carpets, trims, grilles, decals windows etc.) when they were available new direct from Renault.

If anyone wants to take a look then the car is located in Kingston Upon Thames - about a 5 minute walk from Surbiton train station. The car is in a well-lit garage at my house if you want to take a look at night.

Well guys thats mine sold for 8k !.
Went to see the guy again today to discuss a few things and its a done deal. Deposit paid, and collecting the car in a few weeks which gives me a while to find something else to drive.

Apparently he owns a small Formula Ford racing team, and next year he is entering a new Classic Car race which is what he wants the Alpine for.
His main interest in mine was that it is a daily driver and has not gone wrong, despite some hard driving. Plus the fact he saw the underside was perfect when it was up on the ramps yesterday.
A sad moment, since this is the best "Drivers Car" i have ever owned. But what with the move to america it was probably the most sensible thing to do, rather than take it with me.
Driving a car in Georgia without Air-Con would have been murder !.

Properly looked after cars, unrestored and with full service histories are the cars to own and are worth the top money every time. These GTAs are currently undervalued in the UK.

House now sold - Any reasonable offers for the GTA accepted

Postby rbulkley » Thu Sep 30, 2010 11:42 am

All,
We've just sold our house today so the need to sell the GTA has increased.

I've had plenty of calls from dealers trying to offer me a lower price in order to make a profit but would prefer to sell the car to a club member.

Any reasonable offer will be accepted as I will lose my garaging within the next few weeks.

If interested, please call on 0781 853 0789.

The car is in perfect condition inside and out and needs to further work - all MOT'd, taxed, recent oil change, tyres, new battery etc.

Best Regards, Richard
