Don't say that .........I was hoping to get some confidence building dry mileage in the car as I have very few rear engine miles under my belt .....let alone wet miles.

.have to admit to being very aware of the weight hanging out of the rear end!!!

It's fun in the wet. Hope you guys are looking forward to pushing me every time we stop anywhere, my battery is dead and surprisingly resistant to removal.

It's an A610 so the battery is in the wheel arch. The terminals are just blobs of green crumbly rusty goo. The main bolt holding it on is seized solid - can't fit a long enough bar in at the top, and rounded off at the bottom where someone tried to square it and turn it from below. Needs WD40, patience and cutting a slot in the bottom and I don't have any more free time before the weekend.

Best idea so far is to get a new battery and just use it with jump leads until I get time to change it. Runs fine once it's started.

It was the best £30 I have spent in Alpine ownership although it's not been needed so far with my most recent alp (touches wood).

It's good for blowing up tyres and inflatable kids swimming pools as well

Only downside is that I have not found anywhere under the front load cover to store it, not a problem with the GTA as it used to sit nicely in the spare wheel well when I had the spare in the front.

I dont know how difficult this is to do on a 610, but we used to pour very hot water over the entire battery when this happened, then all that yuck will miraculously disappear..... at least then you will be working on a clean battery.......However great care must be taken to avoid being scalded
It also has the effect of washing all the acidic yuck away from the battery case, which will stop further acidic corrosion, but any bare metal should be treated swiftly as a matter of course.

Recently changed my battery. After going and buying an A610 battery, I then found that mine has a GTA tray and the battery is about half the physical size of the 610 battery. There isn't much room to get even the smaller battery in though so god knows how you 'play about' with the bigger one! Really not one of Pierre's greatest idea's to put the battery in the location it is. Doesn't make life easy!!!

Keeps CoG low and forward I guess. Works fine, but only when everything is new and not rusty. Did you get an original 610 battery then? Local dealer wanted £166!

Anyway the booster pack sounds like a good solution to get me there for the weekend, now I can look forward to it again instead of worrying.

I checked out the dealer and then laughed loudly on the way out.

Bosch 5 year warranty battery for A610 was about £70 from a motor factor.
