The boost gauge is also accurate as is the fuel meter :P
It may well be meant to indicate bar but in real life it means feck all .
My 21 has a graduated bar readout for oil pressure and also the 610 .
The 0 to 6 or 0 to 8 gauge is just there to add a bit of ' techspec/racer ' PR hairy spheroids ....

According to your logic then the cars with a 0-8 gauge have 2 bar more than one with a 0-6 :roll:

No Lee, I would not say that.....firstly, why they have different gauges, I do not know....possibly the earlier Alps had the 0 - 3 - 6 gauges, but thats just a guess, you will know better than me on that point.
With regard to them reading 2 bar more, the electrical signal will be at a value decided upon by the sensor, the value of which will be displayed on the gauge at a point irrespective of the range of the meter. ie:- if it senses say 4 bar on a 0 - 3 - 6 gauge, surely it will read one third distance between the 3 & the 6...assuming everything is working correctly :wink:

One gauge reads dead middle at three and the other dead middle at 4 then what bar do you have ?

Sorry if I did not make myself clear......lets assume the sensor puts out an electrical signal equating to 4 bar, then on the 0-4-8 gauge the indicator needle will sit right on the 4, whereas on the 0-3-6 gauge it will sit one third distance between the 3 and the 6, effectivly at the position 4, if 4 had been marked on the gauge. This is how all meters read, the needle, at any given voltage, will move around depending on which range you use. :wink:

Lee....it is of no consequence, if the relief valve is working the pressure should never get to 6 or 8 bar. I think according to the spec, the valve operates at around 4.4 bar, therefore the needle on the 0-4-8 gauge will be around the center of the gauge, whereas on the 0-3-6 gauge it will be a little above the center at around 4k rpm and above.

As long as the block and pump and bearing and and and are in good order!

The only way to verify the oil pressure on any car is to check with a calibrated oil pressure guage. Test it and check what your in car guage tells you.
