I reckon it's the poor sod on the floor who couldn't even make it into the bed.

Hi Mark

Could it be that the Porsche 917 was in use from 1970 - 1975 approx and the Porsche 936 was used from 1976 - 1981 approx.

Also they would probably be in different classes as the 917 has a "coupe" hard top cockpit and the 936 is open topped and was a group 6 car.

Do I qualify for that anorak?

Paul.

Great pics. Love the shot of the one on the bridge. That tail end charlie should have brought his car up a bit closer for it though! :D

And at the Buffalo grill what's that silly hat Jen's wearing?

I knew you would know it, takes one to know one!
Yes, the Kremer brothers built their own 917, many years after the original using spare parts and a chassis they made themselves! The 936 by this time having sprouted the later rear wing supports but essentially the same car that appeared at the classic this year.

''You know what, isn't it fantastic how everyone stops to help each other? When the Fezza went wrong a couple of guys in Ranault Alpines pulled over to see if we were ok - sadly they couldn't do much as they didn't have radweld/barrs etc but the gesture was enough.

Not sure if you're reading this fellas, but thanks! Oh, and your cars sounded REALLY good as you 'gently' pulled away! V6 Turbo's are loud with little or no silencers!''

Yes, that was myself and the Law brigade that stopped to assist a 348 with a broken rad core which dumped all its water.
It's not that we left gently...... we had places to get to and many other cars to see :-)

Which Ferrari site was it, a link maybe?

I stopped for a trio of Stags too, but the old geezers seemed to think they were under control.

FANTASTIC weekend. roll on 2012.
