UPDATE:

Finally taking the black beauty for its first MOT on wed 9th June, after 9 years being off the road...... yes 9 years!!!

I have a slight problem with it, after I drive it and the water reaches around normal operating temp, it will not start easily. I need to crank it a few times before it starts.... any thoughts guys? I have replaced the battery with a powerful one, so it's not that.

Can't believe how long it has taken me to get it back on the road, at least another Alpine A610 has been saved.....

Photo's to follow.............

Maybe the ECU is hot, make sure it is spaced "off" the bulkhead.

Hi Philidini,
The ECU on A610 should be spaced off as standard from the bulkhead, on mine those symptoms were minor but cured by an injector overhaul- two were leaking all the time, reducing MPG and flooding it when turned off for a few minutes- if you left it for 15 minutes or to cool down the fuel evaporated and it restarted. Clean injectors and this went away.

As injector cleaning is cheap (in car terms- in the normal world a good meal for two or an excellent regional one for one) its a good and cheap place to start.
If the car has been standing, the chances are the injectors won't be A1.

No warranty though, it may make no difference. Weak batteries have also been held up as the cause of this on A610's.

Cheers
Lee

Lee thanks for that, I think you might be right, if I leave it for “like you said” 10 to 15 minutes it will start no problem. It is running quite rich on start up when cold too. I will do that and see what happens, anyone you would recommend?

Ok, she is getting better!! added more fresh fuel. Drove it to Bromley today, glad to say no break downs! still idle a bit lumpy though. Will be changing all fuel filters and dizzy cap, see if it improves things. :?

Glad to hear she's finished, looking forward to pictures.
On the lumpy idle- it depends how lumpy, but the road tests when they were new said the idle was lumpy- mine is certainly a little off beat at idle- it kind of part misses occasionally. Before spending too much time trying to cure it it might be worth having a listen to another one.

Well done
