Hi Bob, heck needing more than the 390hp you have already? Ha-ha+ power is a drug, all consuming :) I take it Merlin is now

I drove the car back carefully as the brakes were making an awful sound, I later found the pads on the one side were down to the metal backing and the caliper was seized. This has now been sorted.
I'm a little concerned that the oil pressure is constantly high (just below 8) and that was after 3 hours but it might be the gauge - maybe Martin will say if this was how it was/is?
The boost pressure on the original gauge only goes to half way and presume it should be a little higher?, I will get an aftermarket gauge to see what boost it is really running.

The dash gauge is just a tell tale, so not much to go by really.

Get a decent Boost gauge, and plumb into the inlet manifold.
Max boost pressure is 0.85 bar. Which will possibly tail off to 0.7 or 0.6 bar as the revs rise near maximum.

Before you crank up the boost back to factory spec, i would go over the engine with a fine tooth combe. Check the state of all ignition components, and ensure the correct platinium plugs are fitted.
But as Lee has pointed out in other posts..... Get ready for a head gasket replacement !!.
If they are old, the increased boost will probably tip them over the edge.

It always had good pressure after I put the 50w Mobil One in. It was high at cold on tickover then 1-2 bar when hot. What is it now?

I have checked the oil pressure but it seems a fault with the gauge or sensor - reads 8 bar before the engine is even started.
I really enjoy driving the Alpine - the Renault 5 GT Turbos produce more power from there 1.4 engines (when tuned) but just isn't as usuable on the road whereas the Alpine is more planted.

What a sterling idea Mr Faulks! I'd be interested in that.
