My 88 GTA V6 Turbo - possibly for sale.....

Postby Paul Taylor » Mon Apr 05, 2010 9:14 pm

I took advantage of the good weather today, and gave the GTA a really good clean. Then clayed the paintwork, and covered with AutoGlym Super Gloss polish.

Also here are the newly refurbished Doorcards, complete with new 8" Pioneer speakers.

New Pioneer speakers in rear. Using the factory covers. And and Crossover installed with high mount tweeters.

Cloth seats have been washed with our Bissell cleaner, and refitted.
Look like new !.

Here you can see my "Bluetooth" mirror which pairs with my phone. The caller ID actually appears in the mirror. There are 2 loud speakers on the back of the mirror. Or you can set it to FM mode, so the audio comes out of the stereo system.
Cobra radar detector fitted above.

Q. Any idea how to get rid of the scratch marks in the steering wheel leather ?. Shoe polish maybe ?.

And finally the engine bay.

Well, i worked on the Steering wheel leather scratches today.

I used some Black Dubbin, and rubbed it into the wheel. Gave it 2 good coats, and left for 1hr.
Then buffed off.
Perfect !!, no visable scratches.

Didnt have to open my wallet too !. :D

Hi all.....

Since this thread has all my pics on it, i thought i would add to it.

My job within the company i work for is being moved to Atlanta USA.
Thus myself and my family and upping and moving to america.

Now..... i really love my Alpine and i have invested many hours of work in it since i got it at the begining of the year. So i have 2 choices.
Either i export it to America with me, or i sell it.

I am just wondering what the interest would be from the enthusiasts on here, if it were to be put up for sale.
Our move date is approx late spring 2011.

Cheers,

Hmm Paul,
I think you might be going back to Saab's.....as getting a GTA into the USA will be hard.
The A610 was based on development work on the GTA developed for the USA, this was mainly in the area of crash resistance, but CATS etc came as part of the development changes in later cars for Europe- hence the lower power outputs of the D502's/Le Mans cars.
Having had a quick look here:-
http://www.foreignborn.com/visas_imm/en ... ourcar.htm
You can take it there unmodified for 12 months and then take it out again- that is fine.

But getting it into the USA permanently means (from a quick look) :-
Certified emissions upgrades (Lambda/catalyst- Le Mans spec engine at least I would expect, maybe Swiss spec cats too)
Bumper height certification
Anti theft certification ('88 onwards only cars)

The problems is the cost of tests for certification, not the actual work.

BUT there may be a block exemption to some rules that means all cars less then 25 years old, but made before September 1989 may be OK....but this may be just safety requirements, emissions etc are on top of this...see:-
http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/elig082610.pdf

But this document is a bit unclear about RHD vehicles....

Looks like a minefield...good luck, unless you like a challenge and want a unique vehicle when you get there. I know for Smart Roadsters, people have been unsuccessful on trying to work out how to get them in- even though the original Smart is allowed.

Ummm, sounds like a real headache.. On top of finding a house and getting Finance etc..

There is no MOT as such in GA, and no emissions check either.
So there are some real POS driving around out there. So i naturally assumed the GTA would not be an issue.

Someone has already offered me 2K over my purchase price, so should she not go with me, it will make a good profit.

Nope, sorry.
The leather seats were sold via ebay. Fetched just under 400.
