A610/Spider Rear Pads

Postby BIG_MVS » Sun Mar 21, 2010 8:41 am

Had a problem with my rear caliper for the MOT recently. Thanks to RATS mobile (clee) it'a all sorted now and back on the road.

When we removed the pads they were basically knackered and had a 2-3mm lip on them. After speaking to Lee Metters he confirmed that XM pads had been fitted as a cheap alternative, they fit but the material has a different area coverage on the disc and hence wear the pad and disc incorrectly.

Steve Dell told me that Greenstuff pads were not available unless someone agreed and bought a run of 50 sets.

After an ebay search found these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EBC-GREENSTUFF-RE ... 56370890c3

I didn't want red or yellow stuff pads as I'm only going to use the car on the road and felt these would have been to hard.

Anyway these came as Clio V6 pads and can confirm they fit perfectly.

Clee re-furbed the caliper for me, I think I jammed on the handbrake too much and the cam went to far when I had it waxoiled.

The pads seem to have gone up £10 since I bought my set :? £50 inc delivery isn't too bad for the right pads I thought. How much are OE ones from Renault nowadays?

Martin actually the Red stuff are a nice progressive pad on the road, I use them on my stuff, better progressive bite without fade than the green. Never had any trouble, admittedly on 4 pots and in a Coupe, which is a tank, compared to a GTA. If you talk to Keri at WMS brakes he always recommends Red stuff for road / fast road applications.

Yes there were not previously available so I phoned the boss of EBC and I asked if they could make them in that pattern and they said they would need to make 50 sets. I obviously misunderstood this as an order for 50 sets would be required and presumably it wasn't so they just went ahead and made them anyway and they are now available for general sale. Good news as it means the club didn't have to fork out £££.
