THE Parts sourcing thread.

Postby Paul Taylor » Wed Mar 10, 2010 7:55 pm

Hi all,

After searching and going through over 50 pages of forum threads it appears we do not have a Parts sourcing thread. This could be especially usfull to those of us that service our own cars.
So lets all post a list of commonly used parts, and where you get them from. Maybe even compatible parts from other vehicles.

I will start off with Servicing parts for the >>

GTA V6 Turbo.
---------------------

Oil Filter.
WIX WL7086. £2.50 from eBay suppliers.
This is a large oil filter, as fitted to the Safrane Bi Turbo. Not like the skinny one fitted to the GTA. So offers more filtering and internal surface area. Fits perfectly.

Spark Plugs.
NGK VX series Platinum Plug. BP7EFVX
£22 delivered for a set of 6. Again from eBay suppliers seems the best bet.

Rotor Arm.
Halfords HRA546
From Halfords, off the shelf. £11.49

Distributor Cap.
Halfords HDC554.
From Halfords, off the shelf. £39.99
2016 Mercedes A200d 2.2 AMG, 7sp DCT.
2003 Renault Laguna II 3.0 24v V6 Diamonique Auto.

Renault specify Platium tipped plugs for the Turbo.
Those are just regular plugs.

2.5 V6 Turbo Ignition Leads

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0365107664

Just brought a set of these for £18. I put in an offer for £18 and it was immeadiately accepted.
I realise the Coil lead will be too short. But halfords have the Coil lead availible seperately off the shelf for £4.80
But Halfords do not have the leads for each cylinder.

Providing they are as described, they should be a bargain.

EDIT: The ignitition leads listed above have arrived. And they appear to be of very good quality. And even the Coil lead fits the GTA Turbo perfectly!.

Made by Kerr Nelson Ltd.
Part: OEF500
7mm Double Silicone
2016 Mercedes A200d 2.2 AMG, 7sp DCT.
2003 Renault Laguna II 3.0 24v V6 Diamonique Auto.

In Renault UK stock at the time of posting this reply.

(Fitted, and it went on perfectly)

Quick question on this.
How did you arrive at that part no?

I've checked the parts catalogue and that number isn't listed for the GTA or A610. I know that it depends on your engine number as to which part no is the one - apparently, I need:

77 00 266 680

Just wondering if the parts guy identified some sort of superceding part?

Thanks

Jon

Hi Jon,

I left it to the parts guy at my local Renault dealer to find, so not sure how he sourced the number.
However that was the number on the cardboard sleeve that the belt came in. And as confirmed it fitted perfectly.

Thanks, makes sense. I think I'll have to pay mine a visit while there's stock! Great to know that it fits perfectly.

Double checked when i got home this evening, and the belt also has >

Stamped on it, along side the Renault diamond. Belt also states "Made in Spain".

The distributor cap and rotor are the same as fitted to big six cylinder mid 80's BMWs like the 635. I have had trouble with the Italian "Breva" brand caps having an ooze come out inside the cap causing misfires. Of course the OEM Bosch caps are excellent.

Steering racks have anti-rattle bushes fitted to the nearside end held in via a circlip, although the parts book doesn't show one, is the same as fitted to the R12,15,16,17 and available quite cheaply.

They're both Halfords, but they fit perfectly and have taken the miss out of the car! :-)
