MEC Christmas Meet Sunday 6th December

Postby stephendell » Tue Oct 27, 2009 8:33 pm

We have been invited to the Matra Enthusiasts Club Xmas Meet near Westerham on Sunday 6th December.

It was a good meet last year and worth turning up to so lets see if we can help them get a decent turnout.

Details below

XMAS MEC ‘Competition Cars’ Meeting from 10.30am. Sun 6th December Grasshopper Inn, Moorhouse (A25), NearWesterham TN16 2EU

Following our success last year and particular interest with Andy Owler’s ‘Bonnet’ rides, we aim to provide even more cars this year. We were also pleased to have the attendance of our Avantime friends whom we hope to see again this year. We aim to repeat the formulae this year with a few changes. We will of course be at the Grasshopper Inn, Moorhouse which has a very large Car Park and is between Westerham & Oxted on the main A25 (South) from Junction 6 M25. (See map & more details www.grasshopperinn.co.uk).

We have been able to obtain use of the separate Gallery area this year. We plan to have TV, DVD & VCR facilities again (in case of rain). Those who came last year will no doubt have been impressed by the Inn and its featured oak beamed period style dating back to 1400. It can also claim many period fixtures and fittings from former historic houses including the House of Commons and Coventry Cathedral..

Plans are at an advanced stage aiming to provide Members with the following:-

- Wide range of Competition Cars so far promised to attend:-
- * Graham Pryme’s Murena 2.2 (fastest off the line at Prescott Hill)
- * Andy Owler’s Bagheera (also at Prescott possibly now with Supercharger?)
- * Titus Taylor’s Murena (who exchanged drives with Graham at Santa Pod)
- ? Mick Ward’s Simca 1100 (Supercharged)
- Nigel Paton’s Renault Alpine
- Others likely include, Members of Avantime Owners and Renault Owners Clubs
- bringing R8 Gordini, Alpine 110, plus others including Prescott Hill Competitors
-
- Further attractions are:-
- Rides in a Competition Matra bodied Rene Bonnet Jet by courtesy of Andy Owler (ear defenders recommended!). Demonstration rides possibly from other Owners.
- Greig Dalgliesh – His own specially machined tools (See September 2008 issue)
- Share your prized Memorabilia (or sell?) to other members (spares, books etc)
- Roy Gillard, our Editor will be there to answer your technical questions.
- Inn boasts both an excellent Restaurant and Carvery and usual facilities.
TV, DVD & VCR to show related items of interest (please bring your own items).
* All NEC exhibits this year!
Hope to see you all (with MATRA’s and Competition Cars if possible) on the day.

Please contact Chris House on 020 8763 0890 if you require further information and wish you a Merry ‘Credit Crunch’ Christmas to one and all.

Assuming the weather forecast is good we could actually make this into a great finale for the year as the Goodwood Breakfast Club Xmas Cracker is the same day.

The two venues are approx 60 miles apart and quite well located as Goodwood is on the way up for those coming from down South and the Grasshopper is on the way back for those returning to London from Goodwood.

So:

7:30am Goodwood Breakfast Club Xmas Cracker

Leave here nice and early say 10.00 - 10.30 allowing for the 60 mile journey.

12:00am Matra Enthusiasts Xmas Lunch Special

If the forecast is rubbish however I'll probably just go the Matra do.

Any one else up for the double header...

Not only does this site need a spell-chucker,
