GTA starter motor fit onto a R5 Gtt ??

My R5's on the blink and i have a new GTA one just sitting there smiling at me........any body know if it fits?

I doubt it's the same Surely the starter for a 1.4 will be smaller/less powerful than the one on the GTA.

It started off as a R5 ,hence Simon's post ..which might have fitted as it's a similar box but I doubt a 5 gtt one would fit .

Simon.....Do you know what a pain in the RRRR's it is to take out an R5 starter motor....this is why i thought i'd ask the question first

No idea at all, but sounds like it is similair big job to my Lexus LS400 starter which is burried under the inlet manifold and water pipes right in the middle of the Vee. Good luck.

is it a mk1 5 or a mk2 5?

sorry i misread the title. so its a mk2 ph1 gtt (1985-1987)
a gta starter motor will not fit. only the JB series gearbox cars will fit. - volvo 440/480, clio mk1 and 2, laguna mk1 etc.

Heres me sitting with a spare brand new GTA starter or the prospect of getting a replacement from the UK.
As it turned out i got one from the UK for far less than was quoted to re-con the existing starter.
