Mr Dini, I will dfinately be going back, so dont cry too much.
It is hard on cars, so get preparing now.

and if you think Mrs Dini might like a lap, I can tell you..... she will only endure 1 single lap, it is just a little bit more exciting than Macon in places.

Errrrrrr Mark, that was my sighting lap, one of my fastest and most exciting. I could no long spend time behind das Fleishmann, had to get a move on and get the tyres, brakes, turbo and engine even hotter. Nice shot of Tracey, looks like she is still holding on tight. She said it was great and she was speachless all the way round. She did mention that she hated the corners, but the best bit for her was as we pulled off the ring into back into the car park..... "alive".

I was there on the MK1 Trip last year, but I was in the wobbly Clio V6, and I would like to do it in the GTA

bloody thing stopped charging the battery. Did 2 laps of the ring with the red light on. Laps was far more inportant than a red stop light. then had to psh start it twice later on the Friday. Saturday managed to run the battery so low that even the indicator green direction lisgts only worked faintly.
Injectors and the ECU and Fuel pumps draw a lot of current and battery was finally abou 4 volts. Other kind hearted drivers took my battery and went for a spin to charge it up.
Had to rig up an in-car volt meter and it behaved itself most of the way home. Seemed to get about 12.5 to 13.3 volts, so it was charging a bit.
It will be coming off this weekend and get tested/repaired/replaced. Also all the charging circuit will get a continuity check.
John, you should have come to the Ring, it is AWESOM.

Glad everyone enjoyed themselves & our visit to the WSR Nurburgring was a success!! :D :D

We almost lost a man on our way home yesterday as one of the lads in a Clio 172 managed to mush his gearbox somehow so myself 6 other cars (The Cavalry! ) had to double back to find him (thankfully in a parking layby in Germany)

Once we found him we had a quick look & tried to see if we could fix it but the gearbox was well & truly shot so thankfully one of the lads produced a rigid tow bar & we managed to tow him all the way back to Dunkirque & then onto his home in Ashford!! The guys at the ferry port were just laughing at us towing a Clio 172 with a ratty old 19 Cabriolet! :?

I thought it was a FANTASTIC weekend myself & the 6 or so laps we all did round the GP circuit over the two days were just AWESOME  & certainly kicked the WSR Silverstone into a cocked hat!!

You're going to have to pull something out the bag next year to better it Mr Dell! :)

On the ferry home we decided NEXT YEAR we're either going to do the SPA or Le Mans WSR so as & when we get something planned i'll let you all know and this time i'll try to arrange a meal for all of us together!! 8) 8)

As a matter of interest Simon, where are you measuring this voltage, Alt or Battery?

Battery +ve and a wired earth. Probably not idel, but at the weekend I will have a proper look and measure it on the battery.
It definately has a charging problem, the red dash light some times comes on or flickers (more noticable at night) and often the voltmeter showed the voltage drop, sometimes down to 8V.

I have an old alterator with seized bearings, so thought I would swap the regulator over and just see what happens.

But what ever, it is coming off and will be bench tested by auto electricion.

FWIW my gut reaction to what you are getting is a poor connection somewhere. The acid test is the output voltage measured at the stud (not wire) of the Alt, compairing that voltage with that of the batt. Clearly if the voltage follows the same readings as the batt, then you have an Alt prob, but if there is more than a slight difference between them, then I would start looking for a bad connection somewhere, possibly where the neg batt cable attaches to the body, and the earth strap connecting the gearbox to the chassis.
It might be worth doing that simple test first before pulling things apart
