A610 SILL REPAIR

A few of you are aware that the sill on my A610 was pretty bad to the point where it was an MOT failure due to excessive corrosion around the seat belt anchorage.
Progress is being made now and the inner sill has been rebuilt,the bodywork rebonded and those panels resprayed.

When I have all the photographs at hand, I will show how the job was tackled so everyone can see what is involved. I would recommend however that everything possible is done to make sure that they don't get as bad as mine was as it is one hell of a job (time, money and stress!!) :cry:

It was interesting to find out also that my car had been resprayed at least once before. Not sure how long ago this might have been though. I guess most A610's have at some point. The paint as it was, was almost unrecognisable from factory fresh OV530 though!!

Still, a fair bit of work before it's on the road again though I'm afraid.

Looking good John 8) Although the damage was underneath wasn't it....

Where have you had the work done, local firm? Get it finished for the 15th Chop Chop!!! :wink:

Yes, the damage was underneath. It was getting to the underneath that was the problem!!! The rot had worked its way right up which meant cutting away the body to sort it out. As I say, major surgery required to sort it properly! When I get the pictures of the work, I will pop them on here.

Glad to see somebody else is suffering, even though I am fortunate enough that car car is pretty ok on the rust front.... hey look at it this way at least you have the oppurtunity to rust proof it now :wink: and the sills will be 100%

Most things were made especially for the job. Renault were useless as per usual, even with the basics.

GTA rot .
I dare you guys to look behind the carpets in yours :lol:
Apart from the outriggers and jacking points you can only see a bit of this plate from the outside/underneath .Luckily that should make the repair easier and 95% of the rot is in the passenger foot well but ..... there is a little hole appearing next to the front belt mounting nut :shock:
I use the rear mount anyway for the harness so not worried my-self but I would suggest pulling the carpet back especially if you get a wet patch now and then .
