Do turbos need water cooling ?

My twin turbo conversion is going well.

I've got the coolant to the drivers side turbo by using the flow and return that usually go to the water/oil heat exchanger but not currently got the passenger side hooked up, will this affect the turbo ? Would it be better with water cooling or does it not make much difference ?

The oil plumbing is as follows, drivers side turbo oil feed is Tee'd off where the pressure sensors goes, with the return back into the block where the standard turbo return goes, the passenger side turbo oil comes from where the normal turbo feeds from and returns to the sump.

So far the alternator tensioner stay's been extended to swing the alternator higher to avoid the turbo/exhaust.... So the bracket for the main coolant pipes near the header tanks had to be altered to clear the alternator... both the bars from the rear subframe to the bumper have been cut and relocated to clear the turbos. Everything is in everthing else's way :evil:

If any of this sounds dodgy please say so, the engine hasn't yet been run like this so if you spot a problem please say before I do some expensive damage..... :roll:

You don't need to water cool the turbos ,they'll be fine .Have you put a reducer in the oil feed pipes ?

Clee,
Tell me about the reducer please.
Is that to keep pressure in the oil gallery or stop blowing the turbo seals?

To reduce the oil pressure at the turbo seals .It's a one way unit as well .
