If you have no boost at all check that the actuator rod has not fallen of the waste gate this will make a strange noise and you will have no boost

If your right, my missus is going to love you! I'm supposed to drive to Cornwall this eve...

Will go and look in a mo, once the car's cool enough to touch!

Sadly wastegate actuator arm fully on. So that my Alp off the road for a loooooooong time. No cash for turbo's at the moment. Let alone getting someone to fit it!

Shame about there being no noises- that sounds more of an issue.

Have you taken the air side outlet hose off and had a look at the rotor? This doesn't take more than a couple of minutes and would allow you to see if its still rotating and any obvious damage there. Dump valve failure could stop boost as well as any number of air leaks on the pressure side.

I took mine for its first run of the season today- cleaned injectors and an overhauled caliper (plus all the other stuff to free up bolts) so I was rather surprised when the boost started dropping off, accompanied by what can only be described as a long raspberry.

Anyway after 10 minutes of further driving everything returned to normal. I guess my dump valve may be reaching the end of its life??

Any other suggestions? I suspect I'll just ignore it and hope its gone away for good!

Cheers

Hi Jon,

Sounds like you're having fun again

I have a few std turbos cluttering me up, happy to lend you one to get yourself up and running, you can then rebuild your T3 60 trim as and when.

Smiles,
Martin

Could be, but they're very simple devices and any one of us "breakers" has several orignal plastic style ones knocking about. A raspberry can also be a split hose or one that's starting to fall off. Wierd that it fixed itself though.
