Current prices are definately.

£240+VAT n/s
£570+VAT o/s

All versions.

If you order a new driveshaft this is what you will pay at present. Only A610 shafts are now manufactured and these fit all cars although the ABS rings will be redundant on most. Some dealers may have old stock GTA n/s shafts at higher prices and o/s shafts at slightly lower prices (hence the £350 quote), but they are perfectly entitled to sell at the new price if they wish. In practice they will usually always sell for the higher one.

The Renault parts disc still indicates around £240+VAT for both sides but when you check on the main computer the price of the o/s shaft has increased.

I have a brand new boxed o/s shaft if anyone is interested 8)

Nose-cones

Postby darrenbiggs » Wed Mar 02, 2005 6:55 pm

"GTA nosecones are currently a snip at £6432.98+VAT "

To quote Nigel Tufnel in Spinal Tap "Is this a joke ...... Excuse me, is this a joke?"

Renault should really be ashamed of themselves, because it serves to force more Alpines off the road. Ferrari, BMW and others have tried to control their prices to conserve what is in essence their heritage - makes you wonder if they care about the Alpine pedigree.

Something is strange at Renault, I while ago there were a few errors where the decimal points had been moved on prices, for instance a £632 part for £63.00, but now it seems theyve corrected these errors, but overcorrected some correct prices they may have thought were out! The nosecoses were around £640..

Also lower rear wishbones (ABS version) £675+vat each!!

A generous 10% discount on offer though :D

Get the feeling that someone at Renault has got something against Alpines :?

Drive-shaft re-builds

Postby darrenbiggs » Wed Mar 02, 2005 9:28 pm

According to articles in Le Journal people have had the drive shafts rebuilt at specialists before. From memory the important thing is to get them done before they get too worn and the lobes dent the outer casing - at this point they're gone!

At the sort of money Renault want now, you could get some shafts custom made!

Speaking of Granada shafts, you can get adaptors for the UN1 to use Granada shafts, they seem to take the power too as they are used in most of the V8 kitcars..theyd just need to be modified to fit the Renault hub..

I wonder what they charge for a 5 Turbo 2 driveshaft :? I think ill stick to my Gordinis at least I have plenty of spares in the loft. Its a shame that Renault seem to have lost all Intrest on Alpines  I am buying a new tailgate & front bumper for my Gordini 5 from Renault and they are still available at a snipy price of £150, you would think these parts would have been all discontinued.

Driveshaft trouble

Postby Peter Doyle » Tue Nov 29, 2005 10:22 pm

Simon, did you ever get your drive shafts rebuilt... I just pulled one off my
GTA Turbo 2.5 and stripped to replace the gators.. however the Yolk inboard is well worn with deformation of the metal and general signs of fatigue showing..

Looks like I am in the market for a good s/hand replacement.. anyone out there have one in good nick?

Thanks

Peter
