Postby GTAUS » Tue Feb 17, 2009 11:21 am

Hey Peoples,
Can someone please let me know who has the best price for ignition leads to fit straight on to the car. [not made up ones ]
Factory items or KV85 Magnecore.
Any info would be appreciated.

cheers John

update on ignition leads

Postby GTAUS » Wed Feb 18, 2009 10:25 am

Well i have tried Eurocar Parts with no success [useless site too ] but i had a huge professional response from GF and S.
They were most helpful and replied with this......................
I have had it confirmed from the chassis number that the OE Renault number for the ignition lead set is 6000007688 and they would be GBP 131.00; however they are only available genuine and I have checked with our supplier and they tell me even Renault France do not have any stock. They are checking as to the availability and the possibility of an ETA but it would be a minimum 2 weeks.

Amazing price eh? plus delivery ! yikes.
And these arent even Magnecore....lol

Any new ideas i can try guys ??
This is starting to get frustrating [and its not even a rare part ]

They used to be about £30-£40 from ECP & GFSw.

I'll see if I can get you some genuine ones if you like, but at that price definately best to go for the Magnecor.

Just go here and click on the stockists link:

Bizarrely, I bought my last set from Braydon Motor Company, a Volvo specialist who I used to use a lot for DeLorean parts (the PRV was used by Volvo obviously). Braydon are a Bougicord dealer. I was able to order a Bougicord GTA set from them. NB don't order a 25t one, the coil lead is much shorter.

http://www.braydonmotors.co.uk/

Ring and ask for Bob in parts. Tell him the DeLorean bloke put you onto him! He won't have a clue about the GTA as a car but should be able to find the GTA turbo in his Bougicord catalogue

FWIW the leads for an A610 are the same as a 1985 Volvo 760. GTA and 25t ones are unique

What did you pay for them from Vovo Martin? [Bouricord ]

A Magnecor KV85 supplier [Automac ] has just quoted me 90 quid plus postage.

Can i check from memory that UK post has a limit up to say 2 kg for a set price to overseas. I have used this before and i think it was only 20 quid +/-
[some companies have been quoting a staggering 90 quid to Australia...the ignition leads dont weigh that much !!!

I honestly can't remember but around £40-£50 sounds about right.

I guesstimate that the leads set would weigh approx. 1kg [yes/no? ] thus postage would be around the 14quid mark i agree.

One supplier wants 90 quid for postage  [must come with the car eh? lol ]

Anybody got some old leads hanging around that they can weigh....i'd rather pay 14 quid than 90 !!

Anything under 2kg being sent out via royal mail goes air mail as a "small packet" and costs about £14 as Lee said, which is always a heap cheaper than via a courier like FedEx or DHL that a lot of mail order places use exclusively (less effort than queueing at the post office!).

Braydon put stuff in the post.
