rims?

Thinking of treating myself to some new wheels, anyone run with gotti's? on their GTA Turbo?

From looking around i'm guessing the 75BA is a direct fit but not sure what size i can run.....any ideas before i email 'em

Wheel sizes

Up to 7.5J at the front and 10J at the rear without arch mods on the correct offset and suitable lower profile tyres. Most people run 16 or 17 inch diameter front and 17 at the back although small numbers have gone for 18's on the back. Fitting decent width wheels and tyres on the front makes a big improvement to the handling. Ride quality is firmer but still surprisely good.

Yes go bigger as it makes the car not only look but handle better as Tony says. If sticking on 15" there is no point surely and your better off sticking with the OE ones.

I still think the azev's are the wheels which best suit the GTA, it's just that everyone has them and if you want to be different go for the image ones maybe?

I beg to differ .After years of 16" fronts going back to the 15"s was a revelation .Much better handling IMO .Lowered about 35 mil in both instances .

Good point Lee... kept me up last night thinking about it :roll: what did you find, you had more understeer with the 16"s or?

quick question though - did you also lower your suspension with shorter springs at the same time with your 16" wheels? I assume you were 16" all round?

I must admit, the larger alloys do look good, allows cheaper rubber, and can fit larger brakes for nice effect - accept your point about braking performance etc, but leaving that aside... :lol: I'm rather tempted with 16" front and 17" rear.

The challenge is then to get the handling back, especially if the ride height is lowered with shorter springs or adjustable platforms... obviously -ve camber angle change with suspension travel (cornering, and needed to keep maximum tyre contact patch) will be lost the closer the lower arm is brought into parallel at static (through shorter springs). I know with McPherson you just need to raise the lower arm pivot point to recover, but with the GTA frame - more so the pivot point on the inner wing (can't think of a better description) it's pretty difficult to relocate. :cry:

... ummm still want the 16 / 17"s though... anybody revised their suspension geometry on a standard GTA out there?

I had the 16" front 17" rear setup before ,though the front offset was wrong and when lowered the tyres recut the arches :roll: Front was 35mil lower and rear about 15 I think .....
I've always found the GTA pretty neutral but the turn in and steering feel became noticeably better when I went back to 15" all round .
I've since put the r888s on :twisted:
I think the rear could do with some adjustment , feels like it could benefit from more camber ,but I've not done any measurements as yet .
Hopefully this year will see me out and about a lot more so can look at that .....I can see a set of adjustables in the future :lol:

I've got a set of azev A, 17" rears and 16" fronts planning on going bigger at some point, correct offset etc, not joking when I say they are as new, not even a scratch, and less than 1000 miles, PM me if interested

On the w/shop guys car, I just slotted the lower rear hub pickup, and welded in washers at the corrected points having setup. But this was just to bring the camber back to std book spec with the shorter springs, certainly not optimum, but cheap and easy. I've got a corner weight gauge, this may help as well if you want to fiddle more...

Martin,
When I had 17" alloys all around I felt my car handled its best. Much better than the original turbine wheels with the correct Michelin rubber.(they used to tram line badly from memory)
I now have 18" on the back 17" on the front and the handling is no where near as good. ( but I prefer the look although the rear offset is to large need to fit some spacers, fronts are perfect)

They were both with my current Gaz setup, except original turbine wheels.

Out of interest what is the biggest rims you can fit under the arches? Not worried about offset just diameter would 18" fit the front with thinner profile tyres anyone?
