Given the 300 is officially rated at 309ft-lbs and 281hp, there really ain't much in it. The 260 is much closer to the 300 than a GTA in terms of power/accelleration etc.

The Venturi cranks were std 73mm items, and have compared. The pistons from recollection were the same as the 24V items I have, but there have been many listing, so...

Martin when I mentioned the 63 stroke, you will note I was going to use a longer rod, not std items as I mentioned in the post - so I can put the compression where ever I want it. Yes I know the sacrifices and compromises - stroke / bore etc but my over riding consideration was cost - utilising forged pistons I already had.

There are many ways of putting combinations together, and yes unless you have a really good reason you don't want to sacrifice capacity - bore / stroke. But to give you point of reference I have a twin turbo 2.5ltr turbo engine for rebuild with a confirmed 320 rwhp, and it's modified std components on a Bendix ECU.

I quite liked the idea of using the shorter stroke 63mm crank, which is nearly 3kg lighter than the 73mm item; 93mm bore, and push slightly higher rpm for fun... that's all...

The 72.7 items were for taxation on capacity issues in certain European countries at the time from what I been told, but forget the source. I had to measure the ones I had to find out, as there was no other indication. The quality of the 3ltr crank is not as good as the 2.5; I have found defects on many I have checked.
... A diamond is only a piece of coal that did well under pressure... PRV afflicted, may be I need to squeeze harder!!!!

I was talking abut the 260 which is a 2849 and is based on a Z7U... which to me immediately says they simply modified the pistons or rods and dropped in a 2.8/3.0 crank.

I had a set of 3.0 24v pistons which Dellboy has now. Taller dome and no valve pockets but otherwise identical to the 12v pistons.

Sorry, missed the bit about longer rods. I agree, a 63mmS/93mmB combo would be interesting, with 24v pistons and longer rods to play with the compression. Those pistons will be stronger than stock 3.0 12v's.

That'd be a 2568cc engine.

Well then the 260 lump seems on face value the way to go ??Pistons/rods and a 73 throw .If the 3l cranks are wink then 2.8L .
But surely they had some headwork done and what about the exhaust manifolds ? Are they the same as the GTA ?

Hi Lee, I think we may have added some confusion...

Original configs for even fire PRVs are (Bore,,,Stroke...Capacity)

91 63 2458
91 73 2849
93 73 2975

73mm cranks are all the same.

Everything is interchangabe except pistons in liners. All cranks fit ALL prvs (not just even fire), all even fire rods are interchangable. In fact the TT DeLorean is running three Citrroen 24v rods.

So by getting some pistons made and dropping in a 73mm crank, you can make a 2849 Z7U - This is what Venturi did

OR

Stick with original Z7U pistons and make some shorter rods. AFAIK nobody has done this.

Adaptronic

Postby Miles » Sun Dec 14, 2008 5:50 pm

Finally I have my car running the adaptronic. What a difference, so smooth and goes like a train.
A big thanks to Lee for his metal work skills,Dawn for putting me up again.
And to Chris Aka Scoff. For his mapping and expertise.
Thank you both very much.
Anybody else out there struggling to get this kit up and running.
Look no further. This guy knows his stuff.
And well worth the distance to travel.
P.s Guys made it back safely albeit for a little leak at one of the injectors, now sorted.
Phew.
And for those in the know " du know?" phrase will stay with me for a long while. hahahahha

Always with adaptronic, unless your fortunate enough to have a Renault with 60-2 :-) adaptronic doesn't like the renix pattern much.

Thanks for spelling it out - I've been singing that song since day #1! I've been modding the flywheel pattern and when he finds the time, I'm trying to get one of my converted DeLoreans to come your way for fine tuning.

Indeed, it's a pain of a pattern! I've had mixed results with it, as did Lee I believe. The same pattern is found on the 16v engine's and the R5GTT.

I gather you've worked the solution out too then, I figured it would probably run fine if the "double tooth" was removed each 180°. But, since most of my customers don't fancy pulling their engines I have to make do with trigger wheels most of the time :)

Yeah, I take out the middle of the double tooth so you get 66 teeth and one missing per rev (6 cyl, 44/rev 4 cyl), which is configurable in the adaptronic. I have the advantage of not starting with an existing system, but building and fitting an engine from scratch to a car that didn't run EFI before.

Image

Just spoke to Dave M and he told me about the MAP sensor signal dropping out when the TPS signal goes outside the calibration. I've had the same thing where the CAS sensor drops out when the water temp signal is outside calibration. Scratched my head for hours over that one!
