Hi!, New to Alpine - Can an A610 be used as a daily drive?

I used my GTA as a daily driver for years .Now issue whatsoever with using it as such .Apart from when it snows

isn't that why you did the black bits?..... so you wouldn't lose it in the snow

A610s (as GTAs) are reliable, practial and economical to own with reasonable running costs and low fixed costs. They are well respected by other drivers and are far more rewarding to drive than many modern cars.

My only concern is that it would take little damage to write one off because of the high cost of repair relative to their value. If that's not a concern then buy one and enjoy.

From a drivers perspective, the A610 has the edge over a standard GTA but a well modded GTA can be good with better steering response if a little heavier. The GTA wins on practicality as it has a boot.

In either case, get a good one and there are few modern cars offering such value for money.

I wouldn't run my GTA as an everyday car. I love it to bits but when things go wrong you usually have to wait weeks not days for parts.

I have a company car and run it only as a Weekend/Hobby car. My advice would be go for one but have a cheap diesel/runaround for everyday use.

I've been lucky regarding parts as mine has not needed anything other than service components which are pretty much off the shelf.

I take the view that if you have a good car then enjoy it and drive it.

As with any older car though it would be prudent to have access to another car.

Now that winter has set in even I'm slumming it with a "modern" .

I used mine regualrly for 2 years at 15,000 miles per year every day, day in day out, had a new clutch early on, other than that the longest I had to wait for parts was after damage when some youth tried to steal it. My car is now enjoying semi-retiement but is still going strong. I have used Murray's garage in Hyde Park Leeds for 8 years they also looked after another A610, so they know there way about them

Yes I agree with you MR VIOLA....... when I leave my cars standing over a long period they never drive the same. Battery goes flat, brakes get surface rust, the interiors fill up with umidity and on these Plastic Fantastic beauties the electrics go woooobbbbllllyyyy
