I think I know which M10 you mean, it's near where the connector block is for all the electrics in the door are isn't it?

I'll give it a good clean and tighten up and see if that does the trick.

Yes thats the one, but I would drop the relay & fuse box down and check for some kind of junction. Having cleaned M10, and taken note of the cable (colour/size) try and find the other end behind the relays where a number of smaller cables join it, I do not know what it is like, but I am sure you will recognise it, it might have screw connections, or something else, but it will be quite obvious :wink:

Further thoughts after a nights sleep, the relay bases could all be soldered on to a printed circuit board (PCB), in which case there will be a connector of some sort, bringing the wires to it, including the earth cable, and the common earth link to the relays, which I called a junction above, would be the copper print on the board, this connector would be worth checking and cleaning. Another thing, did you hear a click when you tapped the panel, and the lights came on, also when the lights went out again, if not last time, try listening for a click, that would tell a lot, if you can hear it.

Yes I suspect the fault is in the connector, and the click was the relay cutting in, from memory, there is a panel with 3 torx screws securing it above the fuse box, remove the panel for access to the relays, and see what you can find :wink:

Not had chance to look at this today as I have been left holding the baby so to speak.

Just been into the garage and it's not working again so it looks like it stems from the fusebox area.

I'm going to miss the Track day tomorrow so there is no rush, Ill sort it this weekend hopefully!

Simon, I wonder if you could post the cct of the "Side & rear lights-Dipped and main beamHeadlights" for the Turbo. There appears to be a relay 312 shown on my Atmo cct, but it has a shorting link shown across pins 3 & 5, and I had a look behind the relay panel of my car today, to see how the wiring is done to all the relays, and this relay does not exist in the Atmo, just the shorting link, but I have the feeling it may be fitted to the Turbo. This is quite an important relay, as it supplies the voltage, when energised by the ign sw, to a lot of switches, to energise individual relays to things like the lights, radio, and I suspect the fuel pump cct, etc. Martins fault may have something to do with this, if the relay is fitted on the turbo.

John, I've got three sets of diagrams - D500 1986 (NT8010), D501 1986 (NT8017 the ones I have copied for you) and a combined D500/D501 1987-1988 (NT8038) that I normally use as my car's an '88 model.

Unfortunately none of them show the relay 312 - I expect it's just numbering thing though.

The diagram in my 87/88 book is for both the Atmo and Turbo so it looks like the wiring is the same - for that model year at least.

I've looked at all the diagrams that show lighting circuits and can't find anything similar. On your "list of units" what's the exact descripton of the relay? I might be able to compare it to my lists and find out what number it's referred to in my books. I might be able to find it that way.

It is called the "Fuel Consumption Cut-Off Relay" Believe it or not, I had just about done my posting, with the name of the relay included, when your pm came through, so I clicked to read it. When I came back to my unfinished post,.....It had gone :cry: , so cursing, I had to start all over again (with one finger).......I`ll have to put it down to a senior moment :lol: :lol: :lol: which seem to happen to me a lot these days :wink:

Does it show on the Relay Positions diagram?

Yes, in my manual it is No. 6, bottom LHS, closest to the dash in the diag. and on this page it is called the "Circuit Breaker Relay". These French manual writers dont half know how to make life easy for us, dont they :lol: :lol: :lol:

Both my Atmo diagrams show this relay as the door locking timer relay. Neither of my Turbo diagrams describe anything similar to "circuit breaker relay" :-( Our diagrams are really quite different - e.g. I see yours shows an anti-pollution relay which I don't have on mine. Also yours shows the rear screen demister relay towards the rear of the car - mine shows the same relay in the dashboard. It looks like components were moved, as well as added/removed over the years.

Martins problem seems like a "hard" fault, so hopefully he'll find a loose connection behind the dash and it'll be problem solved. Otherwise you should have the copy early next week to help with further diagnostics.

Out of interest and as there seem to be a few differences, what year are your diagrams John?

My manual is the 1990 model year. It looks as if they changed a lot of things, like you say. Never mind, we will have to wait and see what Martin finds. Hopefully it wont be too difficult for him to fix. Anyway, I look foward to receiving the copy of the ccts of your manual, and thanks very much for going to all that trouble. I owe you one :D :D :D

Just for info, they are not, they are all hard wired, with the wires each individually going to the relay pins via the relay bases :wink:

Not had a chance to have a good poke around but I did take some pics today:

Fuse issues, this has been like this since I had the car, not checked the manual but fan? Interior or rad fan? Never got round to replacing as nothing was broken electrics wise, until now.........

This relay is broken as well, anyone got the serial/part number for it as I should have a spare to replace it with.

It's the bottom left one above the fuses. It also looks like the no 6 relay you mention above John, Circuit Breaker??

Maybe the fuse/relay are related, JohnC can you shed any light?
