This has already been done.
I have used later 25 2.8 and Espace 2.8 V6 ecus on the V6 turbo, using a Fastchip replacement re programmable Fenix chip. This comes with software and programming lead which plugs into the diagnostic port and allows you to reprogram (as many times as you like) the fuel and ignition tables in an easy to read format, not in hex form.
You can also use the internal lambda system from the ecu and a 5v throttle pot instead of the switched type.
It can change the rev limit, remove boost limit and use any map sensor etc.
I tested this on my own car, but it was crap and cumbersome, hence the swap to standalone management.
