Self preservation

Postby A610beaver » Sun Jul 06, 2008 6:57 pm

Can anyone offer any tips on how best to look after the GTA derivatives (OK, I'm selfish - A610). I don't mean servicing but longer term preventative maintenance.

I am toying with stripping ooff bumpers and under body panels to waxoyl, maybe even take out subframes to get them protected for the long term.

Any advice appreciated.

If you use this wonderful website and go into the "Visitors" section on the left of the forum. Then go into "UK", then scroll down a bit and you can see George Lackford's A610 and how he rebuilt it. He even gives out his email address for help.

Think all that work would be a winter project though and obviously be off the road for a while.

BTW Clee - I assume this would give you enough lift to get the engine out with it still being mobile 8)

Those are great links and Jamie has sent me a workshop manual too. I think that prevention is better than cure and whilst the car is still in good condition, I want to keep it that way.

I think I may hold off stripping the engine/box until I have reason to do so but I certainly want to get some more waxoyl on asap.

The help from this forum is invaluable.
