Yes the discs look really sad now. I'll have to go and see a man in Dartford and then wait a year or so

Alpine values

Postby A610GA » Fri Jun 27, 2008 11:54 am

I have been reading the posts about Alpine and especially A610 values. I think that it is easy to talk values down when the cars are already one of the bargains of all time. We had this problem in the Rover P5 club for a few years and it suited members to be able to buy a cheap car but that has a knock on effect. Cheap cars don't get repaired and improved as it is not worth it so they decline, drift into the wrong hands and then disappear. We keep the Rover P5 profile high all the time with films, TV and magazines and values are now high enough to make it viable to repair them and have new parts manufacturered. Beware that you don't paint yourselves into a corner that does none of us any favours. You wouldn't talk the value of your house down would you?

It has cost me about £16k to buy and get my A610 into the sort of reliable condition it needs to be in if I want to just get in and drive it anywhere without worry and expect it to last. Due to change in my circumstances I have advertised the car for sale at a realistic £10,995 and I understand I will have to negotiate a bit. I have had a number of recent offers from £6k to £8.5k including a suspicious one that seemed to track back to a well known TV programme (not another concrete block demise!). At these prices my solution ultimately will be to store the car until the market moves up as it surely will in time and run it for 6 months every now and again. Don't lose your bottle chaps! Cheers Geoff

I've just bought an A610 and based my perception of values on the asking prices of other A610s. You guys ask bargain basement money so that is what us potential new owners expect to pay.

Looks like he will be keeping it another 16 years at that price and mileage  Could this be the only A610 that used to be a Taxi?

These cars are very rare and there are very few low owner cars left now

I like the low owner comment, suprisingly no similar comment about mileage!

Hey that is great. It will help me finalise the sale of my 93,000 mile car with re-built engine sitting next to it. I shall really miss it but I need to have less cars and must have at least one that regularly does more than 30mpg. Sob sob!

not liking the pink looking 610

Yes it did look a bit pink in those pictures for some reason (taken on a phone).

Here's some of the car all back together at Brustem at the weekend.

I thought I'd be for the guillotine with the mods but the French/Belgiums/Germans all seemed to like the black & red look and especially the number plate...

so no speedo problems with the A610's then? While the speedo only works intermitently on my GTA its keeping the miles off the clock.

When I was buying mine I saw an ad in France for a green LHD one- 300k kilometres, yours for 22k pounds......so the the engines can take the miles.
Not surprising really, they are big engined, relatively light cars so when its not being thrashed the engine will be lightly stressed.
Still think he is being ambitious on the price unless the bodywork and interior are really mint.

We get het up about mileage in the UK. Our company BMWs get sold by the time they hit 150K and usually get bought by the employees who run them for another 150K with no issues.

200K on a PRV is nothing to worry about.

Condition is everything.

My colleague's daughter is just selling her 2 year old 20000 mile Fiat - she had never checked the oil and when they did it took 2 litres just to show on the dipstick. "Nice low mileage car, 1 lady owner"
