Aren't A610s fantastic

Postby A610beaver » Fri Jun 20, 2008 7:19 pm

Having owned a number of GTA's and then wandering to Porsche for a while I can't believe what a great car the A610 is. I had put off the purchase of one for some time as I expected it to be just a minor update from the GTA V6 Turbo. How wrong I was. The step up from a GTA is very significant in both performance and road manners. Economy is great too.

These are my thoughts after 1 weeks ownership.

I love my A610 - what a well kept secret they are.

No No No No - Yes!

The intention was that my wife would be driving it but she hasn't had much chance to yet.

Favourite colour, leather interior, what more could I ask for. I've had GTA's in the past and have loved them but this car compares well with cars of today.

How much did you pay for it? did you get it with the wheels or the old spider alloys? I made an offer with the wheels but never got a reply :)

£6300 for the one thats on ebay just now is very tempting, must resist the bid again button

Put it this way - more than the one on Ebay!!!

My wife hated the wheels saying that people would think that she'd taken up drug dealing to go for those but I would have liked the disc wheels like the one on Ebay.

If the Ebay one goes for the current bid it must be a similar bargain to the lefty that went in Autotrader for £5.5.

I've been using the car for work all week and even my DB9 owning colleague is impressed.

I am 5 minutes from J28 on the M6 near Preston. Sounds like a good stopping off point for refreshments and a pit stop.

Looks like I've taken up drug dealing then

I can source the turbine wheels new if you want them and can take the spider style wheels in PEX

The ebay car looks OK but not a bargain if it's still recorded. I have no history on it and it's a new one in my chassis number sequence.

The LHD car was such a bargain that a RHD car would need to sell for about £1500 to be a similar deal.

Pleased to hear you are enjoying Alvin's old car. I also have a brand new bonnet if you can't live with the pins, but body filler would probably do a similar job. Again can do a PEX deal.

Thanks for the offer of PEX, I'll keep that in mind. I can't imagine why anyone would think putting bonnet pins on was a good idea.

The bonnet catch is broken on the n/s so I need to source one together with original catches that screw into the bonnet.

I'm reluctant to paint the bonnet or use a replacement as I'd be worried about not being able to match the paint. The car is a long way off needing paintwork doing to it so I'm going to do an aesthetic bodge which won't stand out as much as the pins.

The car had lowered springs, a chaved up number plate, and turbo badges down the side.

Everyone has their own taste but the previous owner had plans to put a white leather interior in it with white carpets. I think I'm going to stick with the original grey leather.

Is being recorded such an issue on a car as rare as an A610? They hardly ever come up for sale and there are usually more buyers than cars at any given time.

It will always have an impact on value unless removed from the register.

I've done a HPI check on the ebay car and all it tells me is Cat C april 2001, no damage details, they have also said the only way to determine the damage is a vehicle inspection, the insurance companys do not release any damage details, if the car was'nt so far away from me this would not be a problem, think i shall have to give this one a miss
