I thought that looked like a 369 end casing. I've been staring at one last week close up while doing a DeLorean clutch.

The new gearboxes we have are actually for a Renault 5 Turbo 1 / 2 ( 369 09 ) we are expecting 30 from our supplier but to date have only recieved 2. These are reserved for a customer and as soon as we recieve the next batch we will inform the club.

The trade price on these is £750 + vat NEW

Maxi
I think you accuse Matt unfairly,Matt did not know what the G'box's were for when I phoned and asked for the price (£750), only when buying two on condition that I could inspect them to ensure they were new rather than 'washed off' did I let him know what the 369/04, 09 and 15 were used for.

If you want one suggest you put your name down, as if Matt does have another 28 then I know of buyers for them all, at what should be considered a very fair price for a new G'box

Just for reference, some thought these were NG boxes, which they couldn't be as the two shells are nut and bolted together , rather than one bolted to the second shell that is tapped.

Above all this though, what fascinates is how 30 Turbo 5 gearboxes have laid dormant for so long, when others, that are not new, are exchanging hands in Germany and France for Eu3K +

im not in need of any gearboxes have 5 standard and a tour de corse box just think its funny as soon as T2 is mentioned THINK OF A NUMBER AND DOUBLE IT comes to mind i have 3 sheds full of the stuff maybe i will get rich good luck to gearbox man dont think he will sell 30 boxes in the uk well not for use in t1 and t2"s to individuals. maybe JP AND THE USUAL PEEPS well they say buisness is buisness just my point of view when he didnt know what they were they were signifacantly cheaper dont think there can be any argument there. if i had them i would do the same maybe thats why you got 2

Our supplier did tell us the boxes were UN1 & NG3 units originally from discontinued R21 / Espace models and we were going to sell them at £450 + vat. When our supplier went to collect them there had apparently been a mix up and the price had increased quite dramatically. After a few days of haggling we agreed on a price as we did not want to lose the deal due to the high demand of these boxes. It was only when they arrived ( 2 so far ) that we realised they werent UN1's at all and we thought they were for Delorean's or Lotus Espirits. It was only after speaking to Mark ( who explained what they were for ) did we then realise what we had bought.

If anything we were a bit disapointed to find out they were for a turbo 2 as we have never been asked for one of these before and thought we would be stuck with them as demand was low

If you were originally quoted a price of £450 + vat that would have been for the UN1 unit we originally intended to purchase - not the 369 / 09 we have ended up with

This is what is stupid about the 5 Turbo market. Take that bellhousing off that box, and its just a 369 gearbox, which is worth not alot really. Even if you mashed your own T2 box, you could repair it for under £700.

The problem with these two boxes for sale here, is its an unknown quantity what ratios are inside them, ie road, race, chocolate, etc as I have heard that the serial numbers on the boxes do not match any used in the T2 parts fiche on any production years.

Sorry, I just mean 5 Turbo on any years, I just call them 'T2's'.

Alpine A710's

Postby silverdreammachine » Thu Apr 24, 2008 5:45 pm

Dont you believe a word about those Alpine A710's! They were raved about in their heyday by some second rate fluffy haired journalist but now they're just back street dealer fodder. I heard on the grapevine that Clarkson has bought them all up so he can drop them out of the back of an RAF transport plane onto the BMW 'Msport' factory in Germany and make some cheap joke about 'dont mention ze war' all in the name of light entertainment.
