Ebay again!

Postby peterg » Wed Jan 05, 2005 12:23 pm

Ebay is awash with unwanted GTAs......there are 3 now, 2 turbos and an atmo. This one looks like the best.....although I suspect whoever valued his no. plate at £900 has nothing whatsoever to do with no. plate valuations

re ebay again

Postby renman3000 » Sat Jan 22, 2005 6:30 am

The red 87 GTA Turbo on ebay a couple of weeks ago didn't reach its reserve of GBP5600. This car as you recall was the one with the (to me anyway) quite uninteresting number plate said to be valued at 900. It also was described as a Twingo with a 25 litre engine !! I still can't work out why, and the seller SEEMED sane enough.

Meanwhile I seem to be falling for the silver Turbo that was also ebayed that week. Negotiations are proceeding though it can take days for my emails to be answered and I'm going wobbly. The car's location is Reading. Does anyone know of this car or have any comments? By the way I don't know if the owner or his son (who is doing the transacting) watch this website, but if you do please let me add this to my continuing pleas for quicker communication !!

This one looks cheap at a start price of £500 for an atmo, then you see that hes after nearly 2,500 and its got a seized engine and is in need of a paint job....not much of a bargain. £2000 for the engine £1000 for the respray and youve paid £5,500 for a standard atmo :(

Ok you could probably buy a working engine and install it for less than £1000 but then you'd be gambling!

Well the photo is!

See here for the uncropped version.

Last time I looked it was still parked safely in my garage, so perhaps I'd better go and check :?

He's done well to own it since '92 as that was the year of registration so he's had it from new. One careful owner...

didn't know GTA's came with climate control and cruise control! could be a case of building up the value of the car for sale!

Stephen what is that strange green vehicle in your garden - I hope you are not contributing to greenhouse gases by driving a 4 x 4 in your non-alpine time!

Green machine

Postby stephendell » Thu Jan 27, 2005 1:23 pm

Definately my car. DG thinks his own might not be presentable enough to photograph! Might be worth emailing as a prospective purchaser and asking for additional photos to see what you get.

Might be a scam with the climate/cruise control and zero feedback though.

Don't worry Dermot the 4x4's not mine. Fair too environmentally friendly compared to the Alpine with 3.5%+ CO 8)

The photo of the GTA was taken on the previous owners drive before I collected it.

Stephen, Is that you biiding as an alias, Steve400i?
looks like a scam if you are bidding for your own car.

I would guess it's the seller bidding on his own car if it actually exists :?

Someone should ask him/report the photo business to ebay.
