Driveshaft split pins

I need to fit a new drivers side drive shaft. Any tips? How easy/hard a job is it?

And besides a new roll pin are there any other bits I have to replace with new when fitting the new drive shaft?

Easy to do .Slacken the hub nut ,knock the split pins out ,remove the upper hub mount bolt and pivot the shaft out from the box ,then take the hub nut off and pull the shaft out .
There are two split pins ,one 6 mm and one that goes up it's chuff ,about 3 mm .
You might want to look a the gearbox seals at the same time .
Remember to fill the split pins with sealant when they're back in .

and the pins will probably only go back into the shaft if it is on the box the same way it came off, else you will have to rotate the shaft 180 degrees. Might be worth marking up as it comes off??? especially as access is a lot more restrictive when the box is still in the car.

I just used a nail with the piont cut off to drift the pins out.

I have a superb "tool" for knocking the pins out - it's one of the front rocker cover cap screws from a 3 litre PRV - an extremely long high tensile M6 cap screw. Perfect.

Before you say yes I know its a bolt size spose if it gets somebody outta trouble, but you just cant beat having the proper tool to do the Job
