GTA Turbo project - someone save it or it'll get broken

Postby Stunned Monkey » Thu Mar 27, 2008 11:17 pm

http://www.renaultalpineownersclub.com/gta_v6_turbo.htm (top one)

Just wanted to highlight this project. It's the one AlpineRob bought a few months back. Bascially he's run out of money and patience and while it'll be a worthy project for someone with fibreglass and/or painting skills, the cost to put it back on the road will put it about on the limit of its value.

I can't stress how good condition the car is in - it's really a very tidy untouched example. We have a new structural front end from Si21, new nosecone and front spoiler, plus both front wings. The only main bits missing are the large headlamps and headlamp glasses.

I'll start breaking it in a couple of weeks if nobody wants it...

I heard it run (last year I think?) and it sounded fine.

It does indeed run (or did last time I saw it) and it really is very smooth and quiet for a turbo PRV. (No tappety noises or nuffin!)
I'm just here for the gasoline.

I reconnected the battery last week and it fired up on the button. The damage is truly all superficial.

BTW the mileage is 80k, it has working ABS (the ECU is out of the car and dry stored), and wasn't written off as the driver was only insured 3rd party when he drove into whatever it was he drove into.

photos were taken at oxford services. Pulled up next to some other car being trailered.

Comments on its value aren't entirely helpful. It was worth saving until the replacement panels added up to so much.

martin, for god sake man!

how long have you heard people (me) ranting on about the values of GTA's!

the car you are trying to sell is worth £500-£700 max, even to start to try to brake it up and make profit from the parts minus your labour costs would be tight work.

call it 30hrs to totally strip and sort everything out. time for postage, packing and general fu~king about, @£25-£30 p/h = £900ish + £2500 car cost, transport/fuel costs £100? TOTAL £3500

to repair that car to a good level, i.e. properly painted and repaired, and then start to fix all the other common GTA problems...........

see sense, take my offer of £500
