GTA Front Suspension

Postby bbutc » Tue Jan 18, 2005 1:49 pm

All

I have just bought some front dampers for a GTA on ebay.
The part number is - KONI 82-2291. But according to Koni these dampers are for a 1985 Renault Espace? But they do look very similar to the original equipment.

Can anyone confirm that these parts are interchangeable.

Thanks in advance.

oh dear, i think that the shocks that you have bought are for a R25 or espace. the difference is that the bottom spring seat is to far up the shock body, ie when fitted the nose of the car will be very high.
i nearly bought the same shocks a couple of months ago, the seller had discribed them as gta front shocks. :?

If they are the same ones then they wont fit. At the time I'd not long since bought the real thing from David and can confirm the spring platforms are inches out from where they should be. If hes advertised them as GTA you should not pay him.....I'm sure someone has already told him they wont fit the GTA. On GTA ones you can move the spring mount with a bit of machining, but apparently its fixed on the R25 ones, so they arent even adaptable.

Yep, I told him, but he still kept them advertised. BTW, I have a pair of front GTA Koni shocks for sale. They are unused but quite scratched as they were tried to be fitted on a 610, but werent quite right for the application. £60 each...

I told him too and warned some of the bidders including Alan who had a lucky escape.

Also he was selling a copy workshop manual, advertised as a factory original. He wouldn't change the ad and sent a rude email back. Nice Guy.

If you haven't paid don't. Otherwise the threat of some negative feedback may do the trick. He knew 100% they weren't GTA
