If the 15v is at the alt end, I would not be too unhappy, normal charging is 14.5, how accurate is your meter.?The acid test is the voltage at the battery, it is likely to be less due to distance of batt to alt. First check is batt earth to chassis, gearbox earth strap, tightness of pos lead studs from batt to alt. However my guess is the battery. Charge it with mains charger, and check with hydrometer, before taking alt off for repair. Even if the alt is faulty its worth checking the wiring while you are about it. It is amazing how loose all the nuts on the studs loosen themselves over time.

You'll probably have more luck than in the UK. My Audi alternator reg failed last year. In the UK Valeo only supply complete alternators, in France and Germany they sell brushes, bearings and regulator's as well.
