RAOC EVENTS 2008 - WORKING LIST

Postby stephendell » Thu Dec 20, 2007 10:03 pm

EVENTS 2008

2008 is looking extremely busy (take a look at the calendar for May & June!) so we have tried to include advance details of all the events the club will be organizing, attending or supporting below. It’s a pretty long list and you may be familiar with some of the events so we haven’t gone into too much detail for the regular ones. There is more information regarding ‘The Greatest Renault Alpine Clubs Days’ event in Belgium as this is a one off. We have also included a separate flyer containing details of all the Renault Histoire & Collection supported events for the year including those that will earn points for the H&C 2008 Trophies.

Please remember to check the website and especially the forum for more details closer to the date. If an event is not on this list it doesn’t necessarily mean we won’t be there just that details were not firm enough to include it on the list before going to print. Examples include the Goodwood Breakfast Club, Area Meets (outside London) and more Bruntingthorpe proving days which have proved(!) very popular.

As usual our calendar includes many events abroad. Don’t forget that members are eligible to receive preferential rates for Eurotunnel crossings when booked directly with the club.

JANUARY

Surrey Quays Meet - 21st Jan

FEBRUARY

Surrey Quays Meet - 18th Feb

Ally Pally ‘08 - London International Classic Car Show - 23rd & 24th Feb
This is the 20th Anniversary for the Alexandra Palace show and RAOC will have a stand for the first time so please come along and give your support. Tickets from www.bradsons.co.uk

Retromobile & Alpine Expo (Rédélé Tribute) - 8th to 17th Feb
There will be an organised club trip to Retromobile incorporating a visit to the Renault H&C Expo Alpine Passion at Renault Atelier on the Champs Elysees. The expo is open from 18thJan to16th March.

MARCH

Surrey Quays Meet - 17th March

APRIL

Ace Cafe Meet - 21st April

MAY

Rallye AMAG Macon - 3rd & 4th May
This popular road rally event will earn H&C points as well this year. We anticipate an organized trip for members organized by our foreign liaison officer Andy Holt who has attended this event before. French Performance Car has also expressed an interest in running a car on the Rally this year.

WSR Belgium - Spa - 10th &11th May
The first World Series event of the year and a chance for some parade laps of Spa and H&C points.

Ace Cafe - 19th May

La Vie en Bleu 2 - 24th & 25th May
Another chance to drive the famous hill at Prescott at this all French car club meet. Renault H&C will support the event so that means goody bags and points for all registered participants!

JUNE

WSR United Kingdom - Silverstone - 7th & 8th June
WSR UK moves to Silverstone for the first time this year. All the usual attractions and the year’s largest UK meeting for Renault collectors. Another chance to earn H&C points.

Bromley Pageant - Sunday 15th June
The worlds’ largest one day classic car show. There are only normally 60 places available at this event so be sure to get your entry in quickly. The last chance to earn H&C points in the UK this year.

Ace Cafe - 16th June

The Greatest Renault Alpine Clubs Days - Airbase Brustem - Belgium - 28th & 29th June
Some of you will have attended EAC’s world record attempt for the longest parade of Renault & Alpine cars in 2004. This was a huge event with over 550 cars in the parade and lots of trade stands including the Alpine factory shop. This year Robert & EAC are trying to go one better with three (YES THREE!) Guinness World Record attempts over the two days.
The Greatest Renault Alpine Clubs Days - Airbase Brustem - Belgium - 28th & 29th June (contd.)

The Guinness World Record attempts are:

1. Formation of the largest Renault Logo (with vehicles)
2. Largest parade of Renaults – Current record 565 (Zolder 2004)
3. Formation of the largest Alpine logo (with vehicles) – Current record 368 (Amneville 2004)

All the most famous companies specializing in Renault and Alpine spare parts and tuning will be present including amongst others; COLOMBO, MJL/GOTTI, LES SELLIERS DU DOMAINE, RENKENS-ROHNER, MECAPARTS and AXEL RESS. Well known magazines such as Alpine Post, Berlinette & Mille Miles will also be present with their own stands during the weekend.

JULY

Le Mans Classic - 11th, 12th & 13th July
We have reserved a space in the clubs area for 10 cars. Keep an eye on the forum for more details.

Ace Cafe - 21st July

AUGUST

Ace Cafe - 18th August

WSR Germany - Nurburgring - 30th & 31st August
We normally incorporate this with a trip to the Nordschleife; so a rare opportunity to drive the Northern loop ‘the Ring’ and the new GP circuit in the same weekend.

SEPTEMBER

Ace Cafe - 15th September
Last meeting at the ACE cafe this year.

OCTOBER

WSR Spain – Barcelona - 18th &19th October
The parade laps with the H&C demonstration cars were a highlight of the season last year. If there is a repeat performance this year it’s not to be missed!

Surrey Quays - 20th October

NOVEMBER

NEC Classic Car Show – Date TBC
The winning car from WSR Silverstone will be displayed on the Meguiar’s Club Showcase stand.

Surrey Quays - 17th November

DECEMBER

Surrey Quays Christmas Party - 15th December

oooohhhhhhh! having second thoughts about this one now
Said we'd have a drive down,
Is it that bad?
Don't want to display the car, but don't fancy leaving it on a car park either

I wouldn't leave it in the car park .
It's not as bad as WSR as you have to pay to get in so that will put a lot of the scumbags off :P
If the club has a stand that'd be OK .

The club did the previous years at Bruntingthorpe .I was going with the RTOC last year as they held their national day in conjunction but my car wasn't ready
This year the RTOC day is at Mallory Park 8) I think RAOC have been invited to that and have the opportunity for 2 hrs track time .
