John, why arent you swapping the whole module over, instead of just the coil?

I was going to say that but I figured he was joking!

Yes, obviously running a 2 bar sensor will only allow for a bar of boost. Actually technically it should be set to safety cut within its "ceiling" which means the operational maximum will be something closer to 0.9 bar.

But for mucking about - much easier to just interchange the ECU's and not the map sensors as well.

Depends if you have mapped your car on a 3 bar map though, then you can't.

What I was saying no to was Lee's comment that the 3 bar is fine on a standard ECU. If you do that, it will underfuel by 30% (it won't even start actually)

It will start actually ....................But I now know why my manifolds were glowing red at Brunt .I thought it was over fueling with all the pops and bangs but .................It also solves my hesitant issue and poss the big bang

Ahh well ..........at least it's down to knowledge and not skill .....

Are you actually telling me you were running the original ecu with the 3 bar (but with the bigger injectors?)

Ohhhhh yes Davey boy :D

I will explain readers....................

When I fitted the 3 bar sensor for the Adapt I managed to snap the pipe off the old 2 bar unit .It was very brittle .I plugged the Adapt in and it started up 3rd time :D I had a few issues with it so went back to the old ECU .
In my tiny mind the 3 bar reads up to 3 bar and the two up to 2 so as the car ran very well I thought no more ..............................

It turns out that the sensor outputs a voltage relative to its max/min rate not actual pressure ,so a 0-2 bar @ I bar is 2.5v and a 0-3 @ 1.5bar is 2.5v .
Soooo ,when I run the car on the Renix the voltage says it's got 1 bar but in fact it has 1.5 bar and it is underfuelled

My head gasket has expired ,it may be down to this ..............
To quote a Mr J Lane ' it certainly felt quick '

For the record i am trying to change the whole unit!!! I just can't seem to remove any of it, let alone being picky enough to decide which bits!!

Oh well, i'll attack again on Sunday and see what happens.....

Yes you can, as long as you don't boost beyond the MAP sensor's limit. All you need to do is recalibrate for the different sensor. The map is written against manifold pressure, not against the raw ADC o/p figures

Yes I know that, but thats hardly 'swapping an ecu over'..

But the main issue is...try it in the software, and watch what happens (or doesn't happen) to the map when you set it to 'Max Map 200' instead of 300..
