Possible that they came from the car that the imbecile Jeremy Clarkson wrecked for his new DVD? *shudder* :(

I bought the rear lights and panel. Having spoken with them, I am sure it is the A610 wrecked by the lanky woolly headed twerp Clarkson. Sadly apart from a few parts (engine/box, rear struts, calipers, etc) the rest of the car was scrapped. The seats now reside in her son's mini!

Yes, honestly, for less than that you could have a 'built' Z7X, ie forged pistons, new bigger turbo, 610 manifold, injectors etc...

By comparison, complete Safrane Biturbos have been picked up for that money as a whole car, and engines for around £500-600.

V6 Turbos engines are simply not worth anything.

 I did tell him not to go beyond £1500,,,, guess he caught the "fever" towards the end...

Expect to see that engine live again clad in stainless... quite likely with a supercharger to compliment the 21" headers and 4" pipes that car already has.

Start with a Laguna engine, not a Safrane engine as it has under piston oil cooling.

Does the laguna engine fit onto the UN1 box?

No, you need to change the crank case over. But I usually have several GTA style ones spare.

In fact I have a Laguna engine that I've just put a crank case from a GTA turbo on, and an oil pickup and sump from a 25t - was going to flog it on ebay together with a 25t UN1 as an engine/gearbox solution for a kit car, but if anyone wants the engine... make me an offer. Certainly not looking for silly money.

I thought it might have been going in a kitcar, but no-one uses UN1/Renault V6 applications any more.

If the guy wants to supercharge it, why doesnt he just use a Laguna V6 engine then?? Higher compression, better inlet manifold design. Could have saved himself £2500

I'm not getting into this one again with you... I don't believe you can supercharge a NA 3 litre V6 and get the kind of power and torque you can get from a 3 litre turbo - the pistons simply won't take it. The crown is only about 3mm thick. With the boost level you could maintain, you might as well just use a Z7U and be more reliable and have a simpler install. The design of the manifold is irrelevant if supercharging, fairly moot with a turbo TBH, but there's no custom work involved with a Z7U or A610 manifold going in a DeLorean, there IS with a NA EFI because the throttle body won't fit where it's meant to go.

£900 for a set of low comp forged pistons was the best price I got, plus he'd be paying me to build it vs buying one already built. Hence my suggested limit of £1500. He will also need the A610 clutch if he's going for a bar of boost, (£429 retail as of about 2 weeks ago) plus the flywheel and bellhousing to EFI it the easy, neat way.

But I agree, I think he went a bit far, but he's very enamoured of having a "genuine" A610 engine, with the car on film. Something to show off to the yanks!

Yes, they will take it fine. It has already been done, a oddfire V6, engine running 0.38 bar (only 5.5psi) making 254bhp (more than a A610 at 11psi turbo'd) and we have a guy in OZ running well over 300bhp on a 2.8 GTA supercharged.

So stop telling people what you 'think' isn't possible, as your not clued up on it. Piston crown thickness has NOTHING to do with how much power an engine can make.....Look at 99% of SC conversions, and nobody lowers the compression, and in fact 7.6:1 of the A610 engine is completly wasting power on a SC setup.

Supercharging a Z7U is a waste in standard form, as normally aspirated it makes hardly 100bhp and won't rev over 4000rpm, so at least start with something that has 170 and will rev round to 6k.

The inlet manifold is better on the N/A than the turbo for exactly that reason. All gains are gains, whether forced induction or not. If I gain 10% flow on a improving a normally aspirated design, then by flowing 1 bar of positive boost it will equate to +/-<20%

If throttle body placement is an issue, rotate the inlet manifold 180 degrees, run a EWP and have the throttle body at the front of the engine. You can then link across easily from the SC output..

A610 clutch is no different to a GTA clutch, bar the cover, and you can get a custom clutch which will blow an 'A610' one out of the water for around £300.
