Trusted Edinburgh repair

Afternoon everyone. In January this year I finally achieved a boyhood ambition - to own a GTA. Might seem a bit daft, but as far as I was concerned it was probably the only car of it's class that I knew I could afford one day. It's been great, almost a daily driver, until September when I spun out in the wet coming off a roundabout here in Edinburgh. Not much damage as far as I know, but one of the rear wheels (Azev A I think) now has a large chunk missing. The battery is dead now too after sitting for several weeks moping.

My Question is simple, has anyone used an independent garage here in Edinburgh for work on their GTA / similar, how was the work and would you recommend them?

Hopefuly my membership info should be coming soon - any chance of a Scottish meet?

Dont know about a Scottish meet but how about a borders meet, I am originally from the north east and now live in Hull. Not impossible to meet at Hexam or border town on coast with river tweed running through it whose name bloody well escapes me at the moment. Must stop drinking wine its addling my brain.

Hi there

As you can see from other threads, we've been through this one a couple of times and I don't think that we have even got close to the name of a garage or mechanic north of the border who we would trust. Personally I do all my own repairs so I haven't had to take it near a garage in 5 years ownership - apart from MOTs that is.

A Scottish meet should be feasible now - there must be a good few of us around.

Unfortunately (for me) I'm not mechanically minded, so it has to be a garage. For now, I've put it in to Tynecastle Garage, they've said they can do the work so we'll see what happens. When I picked the car up from outside my parents house, I found someone had very kindly taken a blunt object to my windscreen! So now I need a new one of those too. Ricky at Heatedwindscreens.com just sent all his current stock to Simon Autos so has none at the moment - anyone got one? And the seal?

A Scottish or Borders meet sounds great. I very rarely venture further South than the Pentland Hills, so it'd be a nice wee day out for me
