And if you turn it upside down, it has the Renault number cast into the base.

So does the TDC sensor most likely, but with any modification to a part for a particular application it is then classed as a different part number..

The 77 number is the same for 25 and early GTA. The 60 is for late D501 and D502, which both had tapped provisions for the twin regs and vacuum pipe brackets for the amal valve on the D502.

No sign of the new sensor yet :roll:But I'm still not 100% convinced that's the problem .
I plonked the Adapt on for a few runs at Brunt ,logged them ,it was OK but the map is all wrong ( :P ) .Lots of rough running on a 0-60 ,wouldn't pickup at all but did produce slightly more on the power run ,I reckon that'd be down to running the bigger injectors more efficiently .
How sure are we about PG's timing ? I know he and his mech mate had issues with it .......................How's it running Richard ????

The map wasnt changed when he rebuilt the engine.

Go for the new 25T sensor instead :wink:

Peters base timing is different to a normal GTA as he had an adjustable TDC sensor.

End of the day your engine spec is not the same as Simons for instance, so there is no reason that it should run perfect on yours.

Exactly... :D

Worst case there could be a discrepancy in the ecu, but I don't mind you trying another unit.

Were the flywheel teeth rusty at all?

Ah, another reason why your map won't be right, is because Peter's can ran much higher fuel pressure than you are..

You can't expect any of the map to be correct for your nigh on standard engine spec. Pete had the CC, bigger turbo, higher fuelpressure, more boost etc...

Yes, its just there to run the car. Everyone needs to perfect their map. I have a bog standard car here which I was thinking of getting Paul at EA to make a perfect base map on, but even then, who purchasing an ecu is going to have a standard setup anyway?. Its swings and roundabouts... :wink:

Adaptronic

Before I begin! I would just like to thank Simon for fitting an adaptronic to my car. Cheers mate.
Anyway the adventure has begun. The first task was to convince Simon to run shot gun. This was done with various disclaimers. Finally we got on the road and the power was obviously down, (we were running Peter G base with a fueling adjustment, to compensate for standard injectors) We had over compensated, but as we were in motion it was easy for Simon to gradually up the fueling, till it felt right.
All I can say is that by the time we brought the car back I was more than happy, running standard injectors and standard boost (plus charge cooler, we will revisit this shortly). Felt quick and smooth. Except the tickover was high 2000RPM. Next thank you point, Cheers DG for helping me sort that out today, car now purrs like a "Lady Parts" cat. hahah.

However the plot thickens. Today after sorting out the idle, I took the car for a blast. Only to be confronted with a harsh metal on metal sound when on boost, lift of disappeared. Was convinced it was turbo related.
However, a word of caution, on speaking to DG, was warned it was probably not turbo but detonation. This was confirmed by a look at the data log I had just recorded (Strange how it was not there previously with Simon). DG then instructed me how to adjust the ignition timing on the adaptronic to make the car safe and reduce the excessive knock level. This was simply done and followed up by another test run, NO harsh noises and the log confirmed the knock spike had been slashed to a safe level.

why was the car detonating now and not before? The answer was discovered on inspection of the engine bay. My usually cold charge cooler was hot, damm hot. The pump wiring had come loose. This has now been rectified..

The plan is now to fit the larger injectors, a larger turbo and up rated fuel pump. Followed by a trip down the rolling road. Hopefully sometime soon in the New Year.

I just need to set the pulley trigger to the std Renault flywheel trigger position ,either modded or not and I can offer it as a no fuss bolt -on for any aftermarket ECU .
I need a car with A/C to see if it all clears the belt etc :wink:
