Coolant leak fix - thoughts

Well 12 years of ownership and first major issue,so cant be bad (mind you only covered 12000 miles in that time )!

I am going to start stripping it down tonight and cut off the welds on the top pipe later this week. Might take me a little while but I will let you know how it goes

Stunned Monkey - Yes it is the metal pipe.

Clee - My french stretches as far as beer and cheese and ham sandwiches!

Going to try this route then will go for a replacement of both pipes if get an issue again. But if I need to remove the engine for anything else (clutch etc) then rest assured these will get replaced also.

Does anybody know if the later type pipe with breathers are available? Also would it be easier to replace these pipes with silicon replacements if anybody makes them?

I think the pipes are no longer available in any form , not sure . Andy H had some stainless ones knocked up for a restoration project so may have a source .

Have some pictures of the offending pipe/hole but have nowhere to host the pictures

Also bought some 35mm silicon pipe to go over the top of the pipe (went for 35mm instead of 32mm so that can get the pipe over the metal pipe). So will chemical metal and put pipe over top later this week

RIght.

Finally managed to fix the leak in the coolant pipe. :0)

Put a 35mm silcon pipe over the top of the pipe and jubliee clipped either end. Cut the weld off the petrol breather pipe.

Looking at those photos, I'm completely mystified.
The pipes are on the offside of the car... yes ? so how come I the ignition coil (Renix) unit is so far inboard
