i have a two piece tool made up so you can remove the old bushes complete and refit them if they are ok.

new bushes are about £10 each, make some difference!

I'm not bothering with the lower ones now as they are beyond economic repair .Got the whole lot off now though and the tops are gonna need the bushes replacing .I will try pressing them out in a vice with some sockets or the like .

Also the anti roll bar bushes :evil: I should have done them when the engine was out as Mr Turbodog advised :cry:

Trust me, the case looks like part of the wishbone because of all the corrosion, but the stepped part is the part that needs to come out.

You won't get them out in one now. You need to split the outer bush case so it can fold in and you can remove them

Bushes are now circa £20 from Renault.

If you need upper wishbones with good bushes in I've got loads.

Don't know how you're supposed to get the bushes out on the top ones :? Only way I see is to destroy them .
Got them in soak anyway ,will see how the units clean up .
I'll have a go at a knackered lower bush mount with a jigsaw so I know whats going on :lol:

Just put a split in the top hat part with a hacksaw, then fold the edges in and you'll see it come away from the wishbone sleeve.

The front of the T2 is 5G (so I learn't on here) and the back is the late A310 (4stud). I don't think they share anything with the GTA.

Most of the rear suspension/brake overhaul is complete .Just a couple of bits to paint and let cure then it can all bolt back on. Picked up some rather 8) lower wishbones ..................and some intact bushes :oops: :roll:
It has as I feared exceeded the engine rebuild's costs but if a jobs worth doing don't let the missus know :wink:

Took me a while to work out how they came apart too. Lots of heat and accurate application of percussive force (welting it with hammer and screwdriver) and three of the four upper ones came off without having to collapse them. The fourth folded in and was able to hit it out from the other end. The lower ones were much easier

Possibly the most surprisingly annoying job was fitting the new anti roll bar bushes. I ended up doing it in the press with silicone grease and a hoffing pair of mole grips. And much swearing when you think you've got it, it goes "frop" again and pings off under the bench...

I too was fooled by the bushes until I got the new ones in!

Don't mention AR bushes :evil: Andrew ( Turbodog ) advised me to do them whilst the engine was out as you can't get the bar off otherwise, I didn't:roll: .I ended up using the car's weight with the bar pointed down IYSWIM to press them on over some spacers and a socket .Only took 3 hrs a side and very nearly a squashed Clee :lol:

Re removal of the bushes ftrom the upper rear wishbone, assuming we call the larger diameter end of the bush "the brim", is it the brim that has to be sawn through to fold in?

The reason for my caution is that diagram on the part catalogue shows the bushes fitting into cupped ends on the wishbone. However, when I look at my wishbones the visible cupped end is the same diameter as the brim of the bush. Am I correct in assuming that the diagram is wrong, and the wishbone with bushes removed is merely a straight tube (without cupped ends)?

the bush looks like a top hat.

why not buy your new bushes and then you will know what they look like before you hack your suspension arms about :wink:

I have new bushes, so I know what they look like. My was about what the wishbone looks like with the bushes removed. :(

ok, the picture that you are looking at must show the bush in the arm and then the bush beside the arm with a line from one to the other to show where it goes!
