Roll on the Summer?

It's already here. :D

Merry Christmas from Down Under. Off to the beach in a minute. Only 35 degrees today 8)

Can you believe the Aussies complain about their petrol prices at only 38p a litre  (explains all those V8's over here) and wait for it... no MOT'S ever!! (only if you import a car or have no registration docs, like an SVA)

On the downside $24.00 for a large packet of Jaffa Cakes with 3.49GBP printed on the side, $1.60 for a pack of Walkers crisps and bad news for chocolate lovers, $3.30 for tube of Rolos!

Other oddities I've discovered so far include the McOz burger at McDonalds, basically a quarter with cheese with a huge slice of beetroot!

Thanks everyone for supporting the site and Happy Alpining in the New Year

In New South Wales and I think Victoria, a yearly Roadworthy must be done. In Queensland you only get your car inspected if it is unregistered or being sold, so yes you could have bought a new Renault in 1920, and kept it registered, and never got it inspected, but the police can still pull over and fine a driver of an unroadworthy vehicle and have it put off the road.

Things are generally much cheaper here, but we also do not earn as much as you do. A mechanic working for a dealer here would only earn just over 7 pounds an hour, but we pay a government car registration each year of between $500 and $900 that I don't believe you do.

Our car insurance is I think much cheaper. My GTA turbo with an agreed value policy is only the eqivalent of 250 pounds.

Hi Alan

Certainly can't complain about the weather or the cost of eating out :D

Do you know of any Alpines in W.A. ?

I've been here for over 2 weeks and haven't seen one. Beginning to suffer from withdrawl symptoms!! 8)

Don't know about WA, but there are about 25 in Victoria. There are I believe only 4 GTA Turbos in Aus. 2 in Melbourne, 1 Sydney, 1 Brisbane and 3 NA GTAs, 2 in Melbourne, 1 in Brisbane and an A610 in Brisbane.

The reason for the Melboune population of Alpines is a company called Alpine Affaire, and Steve Kalendarian (Rennosport?) that have brought in numerous cars, R5 T2s and A310s and A110s.
