I'm sure it looked like it from a spectators view, however Tim thinks he was at 59.8, 4 secs ahead of me and my lean car.

Can't have been. He didn't finish in the top 3.

You were 4th in the RAOC Class. You were nearly 4s faster than Pete Ellens as well.

I beat Pete at Abingdon too.
If I was in the CAR championship, I would have had the 1st in class. Only the last 3 CAR entrants are really in the championship and 2 of them got NTRs. (luck of the draw/devil).

Official Abingdon results placed me 14th from 19 in class. Slowly clawing my way up, but still 9 seconds behind the fastest EVOs.
I managed to beat a std Audi Quatro, Mini Cooper S, M3 CSL, a 911 and 1 of the Scubby WRXs.
Next sprint is at Castle Coombe on Sat June 30th, after Le Mans trip and Bromley show.

Peter, are you a member of the HSA? I managed to get into print in Speedscene for my class win at Gurston back in April (only 3 of us, but none the less). See the words on page 41, fellow "Alpine Enthusiasts" Iain Black and Pete Ellens are also mentioned and the list of class winners is on p43.

No I'm not......I have enquired about it but never actually subscribed to it. The impression I get is that its centred around the National championships and the southern venues, so I havent bothered.....I am on www.uphillracers.com , the equivalent web forum......you should try it, its free and can be entertaining. There are also some good links to fairly awesome in car footage of cars at the top of the sport.
Ive been told I'm in this months Full throttle magazine (out on Thursday when I will find out for sure!) which is a fairly new national race magazine......they sent me a picture of me sideways in the gravel trap at the Knockhill national sprint and asked if they could publish it! :D

It's a 'sister' magazine to PPC and initially they had a few of the same articles in both.

I am indeed in Full Throttle...nice picture of me on the gravel! Didnt help me win at Barbon hillclimb on Saturday......beaten by 4/10 ths of a second....which was very annoying because I fluffed a gear change on the last and fastest run of the day. How much did that cost.....how much distance is 4/10ths of a second at 50mph (about the speed over the finish line)......bullocks!! :?

peter, 1/100th of a second is 1 foot at 68mph.
so 4 tenths is about 54 feet at 50mph, about 4 car lengths.

Well, last weekend I was sprinting at Castle Coombe. Blimey, it was like a mixture of driving on moss and ice. Apparantly it is notoriously slippery in the wet due to the gasoline in the atmosphere from the nearby air base. Anyway, I was up at 96 seconds, compared to 80 s last year in the dry. A scubby and a 911 had big offs with lots of damage and many others spun off with more luck. I only managed 9th from a class of 12, but 7 of them were 4WD. Best part was the spirited driving home against an Audi S4, not much in it actually, espacially on the straights.

Next event is Hethel on August 5th so long as my entry gets accepted. This is the Lotus factory test track just south or Norwich. Not been there before, but I'm sure it's a fast one.

Well, July was a baron month, just car shows, no competition.

August has started well, Hethel was last weekend and this Saturday it is Curborough, just outside Litchfield on the North side of Birmingham. Tim Jeffries is booked in with his A610 and of the 8 cars in our class 5 are 4WD, lets hope the TVR Tasmin is beatable. An R5 GT turbo in another class too.

Starts at 9:15 and will probably finish around 4. A pretty good spectator venue too, maybe see some faces there, I'll be car no nnnnnn n nineteen.

And on Sunday I'll be at Sneterton supporting my mate in his Firenza DS in the classic touring car series. Formula woman is running too, which is normally a spectacle.

WOW, A bit of a nice result today.

At last, I have managed to beat Tim Jeffries in his A610.
Me, 67.93secs, Tim 68.00 dead. Not by much, but enough.
Also, I managed to finish less than 1 second behind the M3 coupe, driven by a man with 22 years of sprinting experience. Normally he is about 3-5 secs ahead.
Odd thing is, we were all 3 of us crossing the finish line at 87mph.

A class record was set too, by one of the 3 "northern scoobies", so no chance of any class honours for me, or any other 2WD car in our class. The driver claimed he had one of the most powerfull EVOs in the north........ not only was he fast, it looked blloming fast too, 61.83, crossing the finish line at 103mph.
