On T.V !

Postby EATMYPLASTICARSE » Wed Feb 28, 2007 11:23 pm

Went round my father-in-laws yesterday ( who has a nice 944 ) and he showed me a classic car programme that he had recorded from t.v last week, it started with the 80's 911 and then went on to the BMW 850 and then out of the blue they said " if you want something differant and somewhere in the middle of these two how about a French classic, the Renault Alpine GTA ! :P " , and there it was a red Atmo GTA going around a track.
It was good to watch and listen to there apraisel (?) even if they did say "twin turbo" and "two seater" , but they did admit that they liked it very much and that it was a classic already and that prices will only go up :D .
never really ever thought that i would own a gta, but am i happy that i do!!.

Hi - could you tell me what the name of the program was pls, and do you know what channel it was on. Would love to see it.

There's a good chance it'll get repeated.

Thanks v.much. :D

(I wonder if that GTA's still around and who owns it?)

Sounds like the same program that was originally aired over a year ago. Have a look at this thread:

Yes this looks like the programme and the channel, and yes they did say 0 = 60 in 8secs but then this is'nt too far away from the Atmo times, especially with that 2nd gear change ( not exactly knife through butter ).
Mind you its in the mid-range that it does its best work.

Discovery Turbo are showing the series today. Channel 221 on NTL Cable (dunno what the Sky channel is).

I've now got the GTA bit on DVD - quite short though - only a minute or two - but does decribe the cars very positively.

I'll rip it, convert it to MPEG and upload it to my site as soon as I get time.

 Cheers Guys !

Phil - the X1/9 is a great little car - absolutely excellent to drive, especially with the roof off. Gotta say, I rather covet your Fuego. I had one in 1988/1989 and loved it. Mine wasn't the turbo model, but was great fun all the same.

Scotty, this is my first Fuego, the bodywork is in extremely good condition for a old 80's Renault, the car has been standing for over five years, I am having a problem with getting it to idle properly, will try to replace the ignition module and TDC sensor tomorrow to see if it makes any difference.
