Goodwood "Vive La France" Breakfast Club 6th May 2

Postby simontaylor » Mon Apr 30, 2007 11:10 am

Monsiers,

The "French" Breakfast club is this Sunday, the 6th of May.
'Vive la France – a celebration of unique French automotive flair'
All French pre- and post-War vehicles, from Bugatti Type 35 to Citroen DS

http://www.goodwood.co.uk/breakfastclub/

I know it clashes with the RAOC visit to "Da Ring", but this will be a good run out too if you are not able to go to Germany this year.
I have heard from CAR, that they have planned for a group of 5 Alpine A110s to attend, it would be nice to see a group of V6 PRVs next to them.

I propose that we meet in Guildford for a convoy run down. Officially it is 32 miles and 44 minutes, the roads should be clear but there may be quite a bit of French traffic about. I'm told that one should aim to arrive early, how about we LEAVE Guildford at 7am?

A good meeting point will be the Ladymead retail park, Halfords, B&Q and Burger King has a big car park and there are a couple of Shell service stations opposite which sell V-Power (Optimax) fuel. postcode GU1 1AJ.

For the convoy: Post names below please, or a PM, otherwise I'll be making a more direct route to Goodwood and maybe see some of you there.

If you want my mobile no, PM me and it will be on from 06:30am.

Plenty of photos please!

I believe the newly appointed RAOC Press Officer will be attending as well with one or too others.

The good thing about an early start at the weekend, is that you get a lie in every day of the week. I am told that it gets very busy and sometimes there has been over 1000 cars.

As for the Xantia Martin, I think you are better off tootle-ing down in something a little more exotic, just bodge a Renault diamond onto the front of it for the day!

Martin, I beleive it is a free for all on the day, any froggie car will be welcome. I don't even know if there are any marshalls on the gate like at the Ace Cafe.

If rupert can make it, I'm sure some other sleepy heads can too.

Phew, spent the day trying to get it roadworthy....

Battery low, no surprises there then. Charge overnight. Should be there about 8.30 - 9.00am. 8)

I've persuaded Chris Wenban to come as well, so how many is that?

rupert,
good work. Others have not been so lucky with their mechanical chores today and some are claiming Dehli belly.
I have a small convoy leaving Guildford and I will see you and Chris there.
Call me when you are close, I'll try to guide you towards us if we have managed to reserve a space for you, and Chris.
I'm guessing it will not be too busy, as its just froggie cars, but more might arrive later as it is a bank holiday weekend.
