A310 Tyres

Hi,
I'm looking at 195/60/15 and 225/60/15 tyres for the 310s.
They suit a rear tyre with a rounder shoulder (rather than the square shoulder on most tyres). I can't really find any (on the interweb) so thought I'd ask on here.

Any suggestions?

If I don't get any worthwhile leads I'll probably try Avon ZR3s.

How about TB 15's? you should be able to get a similar size and they are brilliant tyres, but wear very quickly!

They don't really do the sizes I want. I'm going up from 50 profile to 60 profile to give a little more ground clearance for this road infection that's spreading like wildfire (speed bumps). Plus at the back I was hoping to pay a bit under £100 each rather than just under £200 each.

Shaddy has the smaller 13inch standard wheels with XASs (i think) at the moment. I think he's still waiting for a rim for the 15 inch gottis.

I run TB 15's, 23/62/15(on 9.5") at the rear, 18/60/15 at the front (on 7.5"), under standard arches, with only slight modification to the trailing edges on the front.

I have the original 3 stud wheels on at the mo, with 185/60/13 and 205/60/13 michelin. Tyres cost me about £30 each...
The Gottis are repaired but I want to repaint them and also need to find a decent tyre fitter who can get the new 15" tyres on without bending the rims!!
I have to say though that the car rides much nicer with the 13" rims. also the original wheels are quite a bit lighter than even the aluminium gotti rims..

so what sort of rims do you guys have, style wise, it's good to hear shadmonk about how the original wheels are light compared to the Gotti/PLS wheels... I have wondered about the trailing edges on the A310 as well, the wheel arches seem to rap around the wheels without a vertical finish... I have wondered about rim vs wheel sizes... I have a 3 stud A310 and will face the limitation of a small range of interesting wheels... but nothing seems to be over 15 inch on A310 3 studs... which is a shame, I often wonder why gotti etc don't make a bigger rim now that tyre sizes are so much better these days... 13 inch seems to be the odd size now with 16 upwards being the norm on modern cars...

Also I like the metallic Green A310 in the avatar, the bright colour really suits the car...

Btw, FINALLY mine is completely fixed! I'm still paranoid though and looking at the temp guage every second but 1000 miles have passed and the old girl hasn't even broke into a sweat!

yep the paint is very 70s!
I think running a 310 on anything larger than 15" rims would affect the handling in a bad way. I even find that with my 15" gottis that the car definitely had more grip but would tend to understeer more. With the original wheels it is more neutral and can oversteer with throttle if needed..
It has also improved since i put 13kgs of building sand in the spare wheel in the front of the car though!

I think they're 53 gottis - 7x15 and 8x15.


At present they have 50 profile but I think 60 profile should give a bit more clearance for speedbumps, a bit more comfort and they should fill the arches a little better.

Falkens have a bit of a round shoulder on them and are a good price too. Even for ZRs.

They have been recommended but they also wear real quick.
512s or ZV3s at the moment unless anyone can make more suggestions.... I did look at michelins but in this size they are very expensive and have very square shoulders...

I have EX-601 Nankangs on the rear of my Lexus LS400, good long life and a fantastic drifting tyre ......... and I can't wear the blighters out, still 3mm of traed after 35,000 miles of hard abuse.
Maybe the XR611s are very different???
