Thanks! It was the first outing and only the 2nd time I'd driven it so I suprised myself as well as everyone else! :D Its just my kind of car though.....like the GTA it needs to be driven by the scruff of its neck, slid round tight corners and floored everywhere. The car that pipped me to FTD was an OMS with a race prepared GSXR engine and was driven well, but smoothly......while I slid my little hooligan of a car round and had him scared!!! 8) (previous owner was there and was seemingly impressed.....he said he drove it like that too and he once lent it to someone else who drove less aggressively and they couldnt get it to work at all!)
Good luck with the car R21.......hurry up or you'll miss half the season! :D

Another blast around Lydden for me today.
After the fog lifted, it was rather wet and slippy to start off with, but the bank holiday weekend sun soon dried it out. 1 long practice and 3 timed runs scheduled for today. Practice was a gentle familiarisation run, 1st run a car pulled out infront of me so I had to lift off, second run was 2 seconds faster and on my 3rd all out blast, I lost all boost 3 corners from the finish. Rather disappointing overall, but it was only the actuator that fell off the waste gate lever, so thats ok. And it was good to see Shaddy, perhaps he will post up some of his footage, and a quick chat reveals that he is nearly ready for Prescott already.

For those that wish to take a blast around the glorious Goodwood circuit, the sprint meeting regs for 19th May have just been published. A fantastic circuit, great paddock facilities, covered garages, grandstand viewing and last year there was a nice selection of cars racing, plus a few more that just turn up. You might even get to see the odd WW2 plane fly over.
Regs here
An opportunity to shake the car down before Prescott.

My next event is Gurston, which is a couple of miles west of Salisbury (click here for location map)
Saturday 21st April, practice at 9am, timed runs start about 1-30pm (ish).
We have a trio of Alpines booked in (2 x GTA + A110)....plus a Red 21t.

I have 1 spare entrance ticket, otherwise entrance is £10, under 14s free and it is a good spectator event with a quality restaurant (by motorsport standards). Gurston is a working farm, stricktly no dogs allowed.

Some b!&tard managed to video me spinning at Teesside

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE17u3Qv63I

Whats quite telling is that even with the spin, my time would have still won my old class by over 3 seconds if I'd been in it 8)
Doesnt sound as nice as the unsilenced GTA though

   There were a band of Scots gathered to see me out in the car.......they cross the border for Teesside every year and the former owner had come down with them to witness the spectacle! The car is well known for its giant killing over the border having beaten more modern machinery in events ov er the past few years........I'm pleased that I didnt break with tradition!
I did get a few people lamenting the passing of the Alpine.......goes to show what an entertaining and interesting car they are 8)

A good day out yasterday, times got better for every run, even better than last year and I managed my first "1st in class", followed by a 240bhp Honda S2000 and Iain Black is his 24v GTA. In fairness to Iain he has not been to Gurston before, but thats the way the cookie crumbles.

Next weekend I have a double header at Wiscombe Park just a few miles out of Sidmouth in Deven. A weekend away by the sea, looking forward to it already.

Well done Simon,
Only managed third place on both days, so it seems that four wheel drive and slicks = (money) will rule the roost this year at Gurston.

Well done Simon.....now youve got a trophy you'll be unstoppable....its addictive! :D
Red........buy some slicks and get it over with......they will cut at least a couple of seconds off somewhere like GD, and they will last you a couple of years.
