wing mirror broken off

Just got home from work to find my wing mirror hanging off and my front quarter light shattered, no note left or anything! The mirror glass is still attached but loose and the wires still seem to be in tact. Does any one know how to re-fix this all and how much a new glass will be? Would autowindscreens or someone stock the part.

Think you're getting your hopes up there. Best way to fix the glass would be to get a second hand quarter light from DG or someone who's broken a GTA recently.

The mirror unit (providing it's not smashed) locates on a pair of plastic lugs. These can break off but you can drill a couple of angled self tappers into the plastic to locate the mirror back on it's metal base if need be. Best way of taking that off is with a pair of needle nose pliers to turn the locking ring accessible under the plastic cover from inside the car. If you take the whole unit off you can fix it and then re-fit.

Early cars had plastic lugs which are prone to breaking, later cars had stronger metal lugs instead.

New mirrors are not hugely expensive if you need to replace them.

Thanks for all this, have managed to refit (cracked mirror) but am still missing a drivers quarter light. Anyone got one? Thanks for your help, as usual youve been brilliant!

I did the same to mine a couple years ago - reversing out of the garage, clipped the mirror on the door frame. New (second hand) glass from Simon Auto in Germany - cost less than getting a man out to fix it in place. I think the glass was about £20 or something and the highwayman who bonded it in cost about £50
